Job Duties

The Sterile Processing Technician II ensures safe, accurate processing and availability of surgical instruments and supplies to support high-quality patient care. This role collaborates closely with Surgery, OB, ED, and other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, assemble, inspect, sterilize, and store surgical instruments and equipment

  • Prepare instrument trays, case carts, crash carts, procedure kits, and drape packs

  • Perform and document sterilization monitoring (biological and chemical testing)

  • Identify instruments needing repair, sharpening, or replacement

  • Maintain inventory, par levels, and supply rotation; remove outdated or damaged items

  • Support operating rooms during procedures as needed

  • Utilize department systems (e.g., Lawson, SPM, Omnicell); serve as Super User for at least one system

  • Follow all safety, regulatory, and infection control standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required

  • CRCST or CBSPD certification required

  • Basic computer and intermediate Excel skills

  • Strong attention to detail, customer service skills, and ability to perform physical work

Schedule and hours may vary based on departmental needs.
