Job Description
Production Supervisor - 2rd Shift
General Scope of Job:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Converting production area. Provide direct supervision to production employees. Plans daily work schedules, determines priorities, allocates work assignments, and regulates production process in order to meet specific daily production requirements. Evaluates employee performance and provides necessary feedback. Utilizes corrective action to resolve conflict and inappropriate behaviors.
Provides appropriate training and instructions to employees on standard and new operating procedures. Ensures a safe working environment through formal inspections, correcting unsafe behaviors, safety meetings, and utilizing proper work methods, procedures and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interviewing, hiring, training, terminating, disciplining and coaching employees
Coach and develop team members
Monitor Employees’ performance, conduct performance reviews, motivate team members and create strategies to boost engagement and productivity
• Ensures effective training of team members
Work in accordance with Pregis safety guidelines
Drive improvements and enhancements to plant safety programs
Ensures plant housekeeping meets established standards
Lead successful implementation of continuous improvement projects to Improve product quality and reduction of process scrap
Improve plant productivity through enhanced operating processes and workflow
Serve as a conduit for communication between employees and management and between departments
Work with Production Control (PC) to ensure production schedule is properly planned and customer expectations are met
Maintain and approve employee schedules and time off requests
Work cooperatively with all departments to ensure expectations are met
Incorporates vision and values into day-to-day activities and behaviors guiding and motivating others.
Education and/or Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of progressive experience and 2+ years of management, preferred.
An associate’s degree is preferred.
Competencies:
A basic understanding of lean manufacturing.
Ability to motivate others, work under pressure and meet deadlines, read, analyze and interpret operational data, have a sense of urgency, be self-motivated and work independently, process improvement focus, results oriented and proven employee development and team building required.
Strong problem-solving skills are required. Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and customer service skills, computer literate and the ability to learn new software programs are required.
