BASIC PURPOSE: Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, the School Based Therapist will provide individual and family counseling for children, adolescents, adults and families seeking a safe, supportive environment where they can manage and cope with life’s challenges. Staff addresses issues including trauma, PTSD, behavioral problems, anxiety, relationship, divorce or marital problems, autism, childhood trauma, ADHD and concerns with hyperactive or defiant children. This position has a special emphasis on working with children and adolescents, including children under age 5.
This position typically starts at the mid wage range which can vary based on education and experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct Care Services: Provide psychotherapy services within scope of expertise to individuals, couples, family and/or groups, with a special emphasis on working with children and adolescents, including children under age 5. Services include but are not limited to: individual therapy; group therapy; family therapy; in-home therapy; diagnostic assessments, other assessments or direct care services as trained or qualified. Maintain a full caseload, equal to no less than 70% of time, allocated for psychotherapy and/or other billable direct services. Adhere to all laws of client rights, confidentiality and privacy as governed by HIPAA, governing standards and FCC policies.
- Documentation: Maintain client files, ensuring completed and timely documentation of provided services in accordance with agency policies and governing standards. Complete all required forms and processes in the electronic health records (EHR) system in a timeframe consistent with service and billing requirements.
- Training & Consultation: Complete or maintain training on best practice and evidence based models with successful outcomes. Stay abreast of new developments in the clinical area of expertise. Communicate and share new knowledge with other clinical staff during clinical consultation. Seek out appropriate consultation with supervisor or other clinicians as needed when encountering challenging cases. Maintain certification/licensure in good standing, and remain current in required hours of annual staff development.
- Agency Participation: Participate in scheduled individual and/or group supervision, staff meetings, and other agency meetings, committees or groups as requested. Perform community presentations or other outreach services as required.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ENVIRONMENT:
Education, Training & Work Experience: Master’s or Doctorate degree in Counseling, Social work or related field and at least one of the following licenses LPC, LPCC, MFT, LICSW, LP, LPP, LCPC or Psychiatrist. Licensed and third-party billable in the State of WI as a mental health professional. Clinical Trainee must be working on their licensing hours. Be in good standing with licensing board
Specialized Knowledge & Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be able to market services and be able to demonstrate the agency’s mission, vision and values. Must meet core competency requirements: Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Recovery Model, CBT, Risk Assessment and one other approved specialty training.
Equipment & Applications: Independently execute desktop PC application including Gmail and Microsoft products.
Work Environment & Physical Demands: Normal office environment and related indoor conditions with minimal, infrequent lifting, bending and standing. Some home-based services provided in community settings and/or client homes. Some travel may be required.
