Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and business-oriented IT Manager to lead and oversee all local IT operations in Japan while serving as a key liaison between local stakeholders and global IT teams.

This role combines hands-on technical expertise, vendor management, project leadership, and strategic IT governance. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the company's IT infrastructure while supporting business growth and digital transformation initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced international environment, managing multiple priorities, and collaborating with both local and global stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations & User Support

• Serve as the primary local IT contact for Japan, providing Level 0/1 support and coordinating escalations with global support teams.

• Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of local IT infrastructure, including networks, workstations, office systems, telephony, and related technologies.

• Manage relationships and performance of external IT service providers and vendors.

• Oversee procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of IT equipment.

• Facilitate effective communication between business users and local/global IT teams.

• Drive a high level of user satisfaction through responsive support and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Manage local IT budgets and optimize resource allocation.

• Lead local deployment of global IT initiatives and technology solutions.

Project Management

• Coordinate local IT projects from planning through implementation.

• Gather business requirements and translate them into actionable project plans.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.

• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans.

• Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders and provide regular status updates.

• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, reports, and implementation records.

• Partner closely with regional and global teams to ensure successful project execution.

IT Governance & Management

• Work closely with the Finance Director, local leadership team, and Global CIO.

• Monitor and improve the performance, reliability, and security of IT systems and networks.

• Ensure compliance with company policies related to information security, data privacy, and acceptable use of technology.

• Manage IT vendor selection, contract negotiations, service reviews, and technical oversight.

• Develop and maintain IT procedures, standards, and best practices.

• Contribute to the long-term IT roadmap supporting business growth and operational excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in an IT Manager, Senior IT Specialist, IT Infrastructure, or similar role.

• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems administration, networking, and end-user support.

• Experience managing external vendors and service providers.

• Demonstrated project management experience, including successful delivery of business-critical IT projects.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, solution-oriented mindset.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience working directly with regional or global stakeholders in a multinational environment.

Technical Expertise

Experience in several of the following areas:

• Microsoft Azure (certification is a plus)

• Windows 10 / Windows 11 environments

• Apple hardware and ecosystem support

• Network administration and troubleshooting

• Endpoint and device management

• IT security and compliance practices

• Retail technology environments (POS systems, store connectivity, etc.) are advantageous

Language Requirements

• Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

• Ability to confidently lead meetings, conduct presentations, manage stakeholders, and participate in complex business discussions in English.

• Experience collaborating with regional and global teams where English is the primary business language.

• Native or business-level Japanese proficiency required to effectively support local users and business operations.
