Job Description

About the role
We are looking for an Expert Quality Engineer to join us in Bengaluru.

As part of our Platform Quality Engineering group, you will play a senior hands-on role in shaping how quality is engineered across our enterprise fintech platform. You will design, build and evolve automated test frameworks and quality practices across the software development lifecycle, helping teams increase delivery confidence without reducing reliability, control or engineering standards.

You will work as a senior technical partner to Engineering, Product and DevOps teams, driving continuous testing in CI/CD and supporting the controlled use of AI-assisted quality engineering. This includes using approved tools, agents and LLM-based techniques to accelerate test creation, maintenance, execution, triage and reporting, with appropriate human review and governance built into the process.

What you’ll do

  • Define and evolve test strategies, test plans and automation approaches for API, integration, messaging and system-level testing.
  • Architect and extend shared automation frameworks across BDD, UI, API and messaging testing to support consistent, maintainable and governable quality practices.
  • Create AI-ready quality engineering patterns, including prompt libraries, review checklists and reusable agent rules that can be adopted safely across squads.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into risk-based test coverage and maintainable automated assets, using AI-assisted drafting and analysis where appropriate with human review before merge.
  • Champion shift-left quality and AI-assisted quality engineering across test design, automation, execution, triage and reporting.
  • Design, implement and maintain automated tests using Playwright, Selenium or similar tools, including refactoring and stabilising suites with AI-assisted debugging where useful.
  • Author and govern BDD assets using Cucumber and Gherkin, ensuring scenarios remain clear, stable and readable for both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain API automation frameworks that support scalable, repeatable testing across distributed systems.
  • Automate database and event-driven workflows, including Kafka, MQ and similar technologies.
  • Use approved AI-assisted techniques to support test data ideas, SQL drafting and log or trace summarisation during investigation.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing, rapid feedback and improved release confidence.
  • Explore AI-assisted approaches for failure summarisation, flaky-test clustering and rerun prioritisation, ensuring outputs are grounded in pipeline evidence rather than assumptions.
  • Apply LLM prompt engineering and approved QA agents for test case generation, test data preparation, script scaffolding, locator suggestions and documentation.
  • Follow quality engineering guardrails, including no secrets or personal data in prompts and mandatory review of AI-assisted outputs before use.
  • Provide senior technical guidance to quality engineers and help establish consistent engineering standards across teams.

What we’re looking for

  • 8+ years’ experience in software quality engineering, QA automation or a comparable role, including technical leadership across complex, integrated systems.
  • Proven success designing, implementing and scaling automation frameworks across enterprise environments.
  • Expert hands-on skills with Selenium, Playwright or similar automation tools, using TypeScript, JavaScript, Java or a comparable programming language.
  • Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD-integrated continuous testing solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber and writing feature files using Gherkin.
  • Advanced experience with API testing, database testing and messaging or asynchronous systems.
  • Practical knowledge of AI-powered QA agents and LLM prompt engineering for test case generation, test data preparation and AI-assisted scripting.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and using test results to improve delivery feedback.
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar defect tracking and test management tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues and guide others through resolution.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering, product, DevOps and quality teams.
  • Working knowledge of Agile or Scrum delivery practices.
  • Sound judgement when applying AI-assisted tools, including awareness of review, data protection and governance considerations.

Why EquiLend?

  • Be recognised for your contribution through a discretionary annual cash bonus, linked to individual and company performance.
  • Work flexibly with up to 100 remote working days per calendar year.
  • Take time to recharge with generous annual leave, plus public holidays.
  • Access comprehensive health insurance for you and your dependents from your first day.
  • Receive personal accident insurance from the start of your employment.
  • Connect with colleagues at an annual company-sponsored team retreat, hosted at a new location each year.
  • If relocating from more than 40 miles away, receive hotel accommodation and travel ticket reimbursement.
