Job Description

Summary/Objective 

We are looking for a dependable and motivated Brewery Delivery Driver to support our brewery operations. This non-CDL role is responsible for delivering beer to local taprooms and accounts, as well as hauling supplies and materials between brewery buildings. This position plays a key role in ensuring our beer and operations move efficiently and safely from one place to another.

Essential Functions

  1. Loading & Unloading: Safely load, secure, and unload product to prevent damage during transport, frequently lifting and moving items up to 50 lbs.

  2. Product Delivery: Deliver kegs, packaged beer, and other brewery products to taprooms and local accounts in a timely, accurate manner.

  3. Route & Schedule Execution: Follow assigned routes and delivery schedules, adjusting as needed for traffic, weather, and customer needs.

  4. Inter-Facility Transfers: Transport brewing supplies, packaging materials, and equipment between brewery facilities as directed.

  5. Keg Handling: Load and unload full and empty kegs safely, including proper stacking, securing, and return organization.

  6. Customer Service & Representation: Provide professional, friendly service at every stop; verify order accuracy, obtain required signatures, and address basic questions or concerns appropriately.

  7. Delivery Verification & Paperwork: Confirm deliveries, manage invoices/signatures/returns, and ensure all required paperwork is complete and accurate.

  8. Vehicle Care & Inspections: Perform daily vehicle inspections to confirm the vehicle is clean, fueled, and in safe working condition; maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle.

  9. Documentation: Maintain delivery logs and required electronic and/or paper records in accordance with brewery processes.

  10. Safety & Compliance: Follow all traffic laws, driving regulations, safety procedures, and brewery policies at all times.

  11. Additional Support: Assist with general brewery, warehouse, or packaging tasks as needed.

Work Environment

This role works in a mix of warehouse/brewery production spaces and on-the-road delivery environments. The workday involves frequent movement between the loading dock, cold storage, production/packaging areas, and customer delivery locations. The setting is physical, schedule-driven, and safety-focused.

  • Temperature Variability: Exposure to changing temperatures—warm brewery/production areas, cooler storage and walk-ins, and outdoor conditions during deliveries.

  • Noise Levels: Moderate to loud noise in brewery and warehouse areas due to machinery, conveyor lines, and forklifts; hearing protection may be required in designated areas.

  • Fast-Paced Environment: Time-sensitive delivery windows and production schedules require focus, urgency, and efficient workflow.

  • Wet or Slippery Surfaces: Wet floors, condensation, and occasional spills are common in brewery and cold storage areas; slip-resistant footwear and strong situational awareness are important.

  • Exposure to Chemicals: Routine exposure to cleaning and sanitizing products used in brewery/warehouse operations; appropriate PPE may be required.

  • Material Handling & Equipment: Regular lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying (including kegs and cases). Use of powered equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts may be required; forklift training/certification may be provided on site.

  • Driving Conditions: Variable road and weather conditions, loading docks, and tight delivery areas; requires safe driving habits and comfort navigating active work sites.

  • Safety Expectations: Compliance with DOT/traffic laws (as applicable), brewery safety rules, and safe lifting/handling procedures is required at all times.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, and climbing in and out of the truck and across loading docks, warehouse floors, and customer delivery areas.

  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of product (including kegs and cases); ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs regularly, with heavier items moved using team lifts and/or material-handling equipment.

  • Repetitive movement including bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, gripping, and twisting while loading/unloading, securing product, and completing deliveries.

  • Manual dexterity and grip strength required to handle kegs, cases, hand trucks/dollies, pallet jacks, straps, and door mechanisms.

  • Stair and ramp navigation while moving product using a hand truck or dolly in varied environments (tight spaces, uneven surfaces, curbs).

  • Sustained physical activity for extended periods, including working at a fast pace during peak delivery windows.

  • Ability to operate equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, and (if trained) forklifts; requires coordination, balance, and situational awareness.

  • Tolerance for environmental conditions such as temperature changes, outdoor weather exposure during deliveries, and moderate to loud noise in brewery/warehouse areas.

  • Prolonged sitting and driving: Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a delivery vehicle, with frequent stops that require transitioning in and out of the vehicle throughout the shift.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position up to 20 hours per week. Hours of work/days may vary from week to week.

Travel

Yes, travel is required between Big Grove facilities and Big Grove accounts; there will be 2 specific delivery days arranged with travel to Des Moines weekly. 

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Valid Drivers License (Non-CDL) required with clean driving record.  MVR Background check is required.

  2. Previous delivery, brewery, or warehouse experience preferred but not required
