Manager, Wind Construction (Electrical Balance of Plant)
Job Description
Job Summary:
This is a site based role responsible for overseeing and monitoring all Electrical Balance of Plant (BOP) construction activities for a utility scale wind farm project. The role includes supervision of cabling, substations, and transmission line works; coordination with contractors, utilities, and grid operators; management of QA/QC processes; and support of contract, schedule, risk, and safety management to ensure delivery in accordance with project specifications, standards, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control the BOP contractor’s work associated with cabling, substation, and transmission line establishment for a major scale wind farm
- Support with the contractor and authorities’ communication for all electrical scope related aspects
- Manage own team of site-based Quality Controller and Electrical Engineer
- Assist in management and oversight of Grid Connection Agreements and the respective grid operators and their scope
- Support the development and implementation of Contract Management Plans for the relevant contractors
- Ensure that the entire scope of work of all contractors is delivered as per specifications and on time
- Support and monitor the interface between different contractors
- Verify contractors’ formal acceptances of deliveries from subcontractors / suppliers
- Run a daily log of events that may be relevant for contractual discussions and disputes later
- Ensure that the Basis for Design is adhered to in full
- Support the approval of the suppliers’ quality plans
- Verify all contractor deliveries meets the quality specifications and establish and maintain the QA records of the same
- Support the approval of milestone deliveries
- Support the implementation and follow-up of appropriate risk management and environmental protection measures
- Evaluate the consequences of activities for risk impact on cost and plan
- Monitor work progress vs. schedules and act accordingly in case of delays
- Interact with Technical and Author Supervision representatives
- Monitoring compliance with technological processes during construction
- Verify As-Built documentation
- Participate in Permit to Works meetings with subsequent sign-off of PtWs
- Provide daily progress reports in coordination with contractors
- Accept work progress on the site
- Execute checks of documents availability confirming quality characteristics of designs, products, materials, and equipment, used during construction of an object – technical passport, certificate, lab tests results certificates etc.
- Sign Acts of completed works from contractors
- Demonstrate Safety Leadership by example
- Participate, contribute, and provide leadership in toolbox talks, safety inductions and risk assessments.
Prerequisites:
- Must be a licensed Electrical Engineer.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant construction engineering experience in power generation projects.
- Prior experience in wind power projects is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the Philippine Grid Code, Philippine Electrical Code (PEC), and international electrical standards.
- Experience working with utilities and transmission companies.
- Proven experience in contract administration and QA/QC management.
- Strong coordination, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to be assigned on‑site for the duration of the project.
