This position will report to the Chief of Staff for the Office of the Provost and be responsible for lead coordination of all events under the Office of the Provost, Office of Faculty Affairs, Graduate School, and Office of Undergraduate Affairs. This includes the Provost’s Awards, New Faculty Orientation, Town Hall events, Lecture Series, as well as Development, Athletics, and Commencement-related activities. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and writer, able to manage event materials, including websites, social media posts, and copy. Exceptional organization skills are key. The candidate will be asked to work independently and may often be managing multiple projects at the same time. Events often take place outside regular work hours and travel may be required. The Office of the Provost also expects a high-level of professionalism and discretion at all times.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Events directs the development, planning, and daily operations of the meetings and events for the assigned department. Specifically, the incumbent oversees staffing, venue selection, set-up, tear-down, and on-site project management for all activities and events.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinates all amenities and accommodations at the event.
2. Monitors and controls event budgets and negotiates all necessary contracts.
3. Negotiates and writes proposals to secure sponsorship to offset event expenses.
4. Oversees that proper financial paperwork is completed.
5. Works with print and broadcast media for coverage of events.
6. Recaps and analyzes events offering suggestions for improvement.
7. Develops and promotes community relations opportunities.
8. Oversees performance of vendors, volunteers, and staff at events.
9. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
Experience:
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience required
Certification and Licensing:
Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements
