About your team
The Investment Directing function is part of Fidelity International’s Asset Management division, reporting directly to the Head of Asset Management. The function works in close partnership with investment teams and distribution colleagues to represent Fidelity’s investment capabilities, support commercial priorities, and help deliver strong client outcomes.
The Fixed Income Investment Directing team supports the development and growth of Fidelity’s Fixed Income business by helping to commercialise the firm’s investment capabilities. The team represents the fixed income group to prospective and existing clients, reports on portfolios, promotes thought leadership, contributes to the development of new capabilities in response to investor demand, and produces marketing materials to support sales activity. The team brings together strong bond market expertise, deep and evolving knowledge of portfolio strategies, and the ability to communicate these effectively across a range of channels, including direct client engagement where appropriate.
Fidelity International’s Fixed Income team manages in excess of US$106 billion in fixed income portfolios on behalf of institutional, wholesale and retail clients globally, as at 31 May 2026. It operates as a globally integrated team, with close collaboration across its European, Asian and Canadian hubs.
About your role
This position will be situated in Fidelity’s Fixed Income Investment Directing team, reporting to the Head of European Fixed Income Investment Directing, based in London.
Core activities
- Act as an Investment Director within Fidelity’s Fixed Income Investment Directing team, with a primary focus on UK market engagement across investment process, strategy updates, product developments, client pitches, client servicing, due diligence and RFPs.
- Serve as a proxy for Portfolio Managers in client-facing activity, representing investment capabilities clearly and credibly across a range of client, consultant and internal forums.
- Partner with investment teams, distribution and other internal stakeholders to drive business acquisition, retention, business defence and broader opportunity development.
- Lead client engagement across prospecting, pitch meetings, finals presentations, regular review meetings and more complex servicing discussions.
- Take ownership of more complex client questions, drawing on the broader investment, product and distribution network to provide high-quality responses.
- Lead the development and refinement of marketing and client materials, with a focus on clarity, consistency and commercial impact.
- Help shape franchise strategy, product development discussions and marketing initiatives to strengthen positioning and messaging.
- Represent the client voice in internal forums, communicating client needs, feedback, market insights and competitor intelligence to investment teams and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to broader Fixed Income Investment Directing initiatives and team priorities, including work beyond immediate capability responsibilities where required.
About you
With a strong background in financial markets and our industry, significant investment experience, and a proven ability to deliver on client needs, you will be able to demonstrate the following core skills and competencies:
Commercial acumen
- Deep understanding of the commercial positioning of an investment capability and its role within broader client portfolios.
- Ability to translate client needs into a clear, compelling sales proposition for relevant investment capabilities.
- Strong ability to represent investment strategies in pitch meetings, finals presentations and other high-impact client engagements.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial markets, distribution channels, client segments, and market trends.
- Strong awareness of Fidelity’s broader business priorities and the commercial context in which the team operates.
- Ability to assess opportunities, risks and trade-offs, including the quality of business, business at risk, resource requirements and the opportunity cost associated with new business decisions.
- Ability to identify evolving client demand and contribute meaningfully to discussions on opportunity development, product positioning and competitive dynamics.
- Ability to think beyond individual strategies or areas of coverage, contributing to broader business planning and franchise development where required.
- Deep understanding of the relevant competitor landscape.

- Ability to interpret and communicate complex investment topics clearly and commercially.
- Ability to use data, analytics and market insight to support client engagement and commercial decision-making.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders and deliverables effectively.
- Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
