JOB POSITION
- Carelon Global Solutions India is seeking for an Associate UX Designer II to support the design of human-centred digital health experiences across Carelon's portfolio of care management, claims, and member engagement platforms.
- The Associate UX Designer contributes to the team's design activities under the guidance of senior practitioners, applying foundational design thinking to meaningful healthcare challenges.
- This role is a stepping stone for emerging designers who want to grow their craft while making a tangible difference in how members and care teams interact with complex health systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
- Assist in planning and conducting user research — including interviews with members, care coordinators, and clinical users — under direction from senior designers.
- Create wireframes, user flows, and prototypes to explore and communicate design solutions for health technology products.
- Support synthesis of research findings into structured artefacts such as journey maps, affinity diagrams, and personas relevant to healthcare user populations.
- Contribute to the production and maintenance of UI specifications, design documentation, and developer handoff assets using Figma.
- Apply Carelon's design system components, interaction patterns, and accessibility standards consistently across deliverables.
- Participate actively in design critiques, sprint ceremonies, and cross-functional reviews with product and engineering partners.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure faithful, accessible implementation of designs in regulated product environments.
- Respond to design feedback constructively and iterate on work with curiosity and a growth mindset.
QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Communication Design, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field from NID, IIT, NIFT or other premium Design institutes
- A portfolio demonstrating foundational design thinking, process documentation, and at least one end-to-end case study — academic or professional
- Coursework or project exposure to research methods, information architecture, behavioral science, or visual design.
EXPERIENCE
- 0–3 years of professional UX design experience, including internships, co-op programmes, academic projects, or freelance work.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major design or prototyping tool (Figma preferred).
- Exposure to agile or sprint-based product development environments is an advantage.
- Any prior experience in a healthcare, insurance, or social services context — even in a non-design capacity — is a meaningful plus
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Working knowledge of Figma including component usage, auto-layout, and basic prototyping.
- Foundational understanding of visual design principles: hierarchy, spacing, colour, and typography.
- Familiarity with usability heuristics and WCAG accessibility guidelines.
- Awareness of cognitive and behavioural psychology as it applies to user decision-making and interface design is a strong differentiator.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to articulate design rationale clearly to non-designers.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to ask clarifying questions before proceeding independently.
- Empathy for vulnerable populations such as patients managing chronic conditions, elderly users, and caregivers — Carelon's core user communities.
