Sales Representative – Agriculture (Northeastern U.S.)
Pratt Industries is looking for high-energy, technically minded, and team-oriented professionals to join our Ag Team. We are a leader in sustainable packaging, and we are looking for a dedicated Sales Representative to help us meet exciting growth objectives across the Northeast.
This role is centered on value-based selling and requires a heavy emphasis on prospecting and relationship development. You will work alongside a talented cross-functional group—including manufacturing, warehousing, and quality control—to provide top-tier corrugated packaging solutions to the agricultural sector.
The Opportunity
This position is specifically focused on the produce and processed produce industries. You will spend your time in the field working directly with local growers, packers, and re-packers.
- Location: Northeastern U.S. (Territory-based)
- Compensation: Competitive base salary plus commission structure.
- Focus: Agriculture, Horticulture, and Processed Foods.
Key Responsibilities
Growth & Business Development
- Prospecting: Maintain an updated and accurate pipeline of prospective accounts.
- Qualification: Analyze and qualify prospects to ensure a strong business fit.
- Relationship Building: Conduct initial contact and follow-up sales calls to establish long-term, repeat business.
- Performance: Consistently meet and surpass sales quota commitments within your assigned territory. Perform a minimum of 25% of the Technical Sales Representative tasks.
Account Management
- Strategy: Implement customized sales strategies to win and retain market share.
- Proposal Development: Create pricing models and value-based proposals that address specific customer needs.
- Financial Stewardship: Manage working capital and focus on activities that improve cash flow.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Ag warehouse teams, manufacturing plant management, and fellow sales associates.
- Market Intelligence: Stay current on competitive activity and industry trends within the Northeast.
- Logistics: Travel as necessary to cover the territory and manage the physical delivery/loading of product samples.
Candidate Requirements
Required Education & Experience
- Industry Expertise: 3+ years of outside sales experience OR related experience within the Agriculture industry.
- Mobility: Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to load and unload product samples from a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: College degree, ideally in Packaging, Graphics, Sales, Business, or Agriculture.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in the corrugated box industry (including internships or co-ops).
