The Child Center Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) is a coeducational program in a warm, supportive environment that serves young people ages 12-18 who have had multiple psychiatric hospital placements or have been involved with the juvenile justice system. It is the only downstate RTF in the state that is a dual NYS Office of Mental Health/Office of Children and Family Services facility. We never consider it too late to give young people the help they need, and we are pleased to partner with these two agencies to ensure the young people in our care have the skills and support they need to achieve long-term success. Reflecting The Child Center’s dedication to comprehensive care, the RTF is staffed by clinical coordinators, psychiatric providers, a pediatrician, and 24-hour nursing staff, 24-hour youth advocates. Supports are individualized and tailored to the needs of the young people.
Position Summary
The Assistant Clinical Director-Therapy Services is responsible for all aspects of individual and group therapy. The Assistant Clinical Director oversees staff providing individual and group therapy in the RTF and works as a part of the leadership team to integrate clinical treatment into overall residential care.
Essential Functions
Manages the overall direction, coordination and performance of Clinical Coordinators in regard to both treatment and administrative duties, including clinical supervision and guidance of milieu staff Serves as primary therapist for youth in the event of a Clinical Coordinator vacancy.
Provides clinical supervision, assesses and addresses teams' clinical competence and compliance with documentation requirements via methods including, but not limited to, chart reviews, participation in clinical sessions, and collaboration with Quality Specialist ensuring client care is consistent with best practice standards, policies and procedures
Reviews and approves diagnosis-based progress notes, treatment plans and assessments
Implements and ensures compliance with all agency, government and licensing requirements, regulations and expectations
Coordinates and co-chairs the comprehensive treatment planning meetings
Participates in Meet & Greet meetings and Admission Committee meetings with a focus on clinical treatment needs for client and family, while collaborating on case and unit assignments
Collaborates and supports implementation of special programs including the Creative Arts therapy and internship program within RTF
Creates and strengthens community relations with outside providers including hospitals, outpatient programs, etc.
Liaisons with TCCNY programs for collaboration and seamless transitions
Support the overall RTF, assisting with crisis support and de-escalation
Hours
Flex schedule | 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Tuesday – Saturday or Sunday – Thursday
Required: Two late nights | 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises Clinical Coordinators, providing hands-on training and support for onboarding/offboarding, performance reviews. Oversees clinical integration of the RTF program at large and group supervision of milieu staff. Serves as a critical member of RTF Management Team and backup to Director of Integrated Clinical Services.
Qualifications
Must be over 21 years of age
Master’s degree in Social Work
3-5 years’ experience working with emotionally disturbed adolescents
2+ years’ supervisory experience
LCSW Certification, Psychologist, or Psychiatrist required
Proficient in MS Office
