Position Purpose
We are looking for a Senior Specialist, Eggs & Birds Category, to join our Global Supplier Management team within Animal Health division in Our Company Salamanca (Spain) or Our Company Millsboro (US) and support a critical supply chain for Animal Health Manufacturing. This role serves as a key interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring effective supplier performance management, operational execution, and continuity of supply. The position contributes to the delivery of category objectives through disciplined governance, cross-functional collaboration, and structured issue resolution.
The role is accountable for developing a strong understanding of the end-to-end egg-based vaccine production process, including key operational dependencies, supplier performance drivers, and outsourcing activities. In addition, the Senior Specialist Procurement will support and lead supplier interactions, negotiations, and continuous improvement efforts to help optimize quality, cost, and service performance.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter resource for the Eggs & Birds category, supporting supplier and stakeholder engagement to ensure business continuity and operational performance.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the egg-based vaccine production process, including process steps, dependencies, and performance drivers.
- Monitor supplier and flock performance against defined metrics, identify deviations, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
- Support and manage outsourcing activities with key suppliers to ensure compliance with quality, service, supply, and cost expectations.
- Lead supplier negotiations and support contract execution in alignment with category strategy and business requirements.
- Participate in the execution and continuous improvement of the supplier governance model, including performance reviews, action tracking, and escalation management.
- Partner with procurement, operations, quality, planning, and technical functions to address issues, mitigate risk, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Translate performance data and supplier insights into clear recommendations that support decision-making and category results.
- Contribute to initiatives focused on process optimization, supplier development, and operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Veterinary Science, Science, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Experience in procurement, supplier management, outsourcing, or category support in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in supplier performance management, negotiation, planning, and execution.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain operations, preferably in animal health, biopharmaceuticals, food production, or a related regulated industry.
- English language proficiency required.
- Travel required: 10–15%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in animal health and/or biopharmaceutical environments, including familiarity with manufacturing, supply chain, and supplier/category management practices.
- Knowledge of supply chain systems, performance reporting, and operations management practices.
- Experience in direct materials category sourcing.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen.
- Experience working in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Results-oriented mindset with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
The salary range for this role is $96,200 - $151,400
