Schedule Details/Additional Information:

20 hours/week, generally Monday - Friday 08-1630 with occasional community events on evenings/weekends.

*Prefers 5 years of cardiology background experience

*Strongly preferred but not required - education experience

Pay Range

$41.10 - $61.65

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides community educational programs in collaboration with management and clinical experts related to health promotion, wellness, disease prevention and intervention.
  • Administers health risk assessments and follows up as indicated with education, counseling or referrals.
  • Educates and counsels individuals, families and groups. Promotes self-care through the provision of information, counseling and education and refers patients to appropriate sources of care.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of educational and outreach activities to ensure programs are evidenced based, of appropriate quality and learning outcomes are achieved.
  • Utilizes adult learning principles, principles of training design, change management theory and measurement of training effect in planning, implementing and evaluating community education and outreach activities.
  • Incorporates alternative program design and utilizes a variety of written and visual media to disseminate information.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other clinical experts, seeking and incorporating their input into educational programs as content experts and presenters.
  • Develops training for, and trains women survivors of, cardiac disease to present community education. Functions as a peer counselor and support network.
  • Remains current on women's cardiac health issues through review of current research, attendance at professional conferences, networking with colleagues, and incorporates new knowledge into programming and shares information with members of the Karen Yontz Women's Cardiac Awareness team.
  • Participates in research activities including, but is not limited to, collaborative efforts using any and all of the recognized formal research processes.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.


Education Required:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.


Experience Required:

  • Requires minimum of 1 year of experience in clinical knowledge of cardiac disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and service management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) or similar products.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
  • Must have speaking and hearing abilities to communicate/instruct class of 20-30 people.
  • Position requires travel. May be exposed to weather and road hazards.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
