JOB SUMMARY

The Sportsbook Writer is responsible to provide a level of service which is gracious, kind, and warm that creates an exciting environment and World Class Service by delivering Old-World Hospitality and Charm for the casino guests. A Sportsbook Writer is a key customer service provider in the sportsbook. They service and build relationships with the guest, write wagering tickets, exchange tickets for currency, execute players’ signups and manages kiosks. Ensure compliance with procedures for the sportsbook in a professional manner. Protect company assets by adhering to company policies and all state and regulatory compliance including Internal Controls, Policies and Procedures, The Responsible Gaming Plan, and Title 31.

Pay Range: $25.29-$28.10/hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for guest service with energy and professionalism; Providing Old-World Hospitality with Old-World Charm
  • Required to know and deliver the company core values
  • Required to be punctual to pre-shift meeting with a positive attitude and openly participate
  • Required to explain, educate, and assist guests with sports wagering and information
  • Ability to sign on to working station, key-in betting information into terminal, collects payment, print tickets, makes applicable change, gives ticket to patron and check for satisfaction
  • Actively promote and issue the players’ tracking system
  • Responsible to change ticket paper, restock betting sheets and other supplies as needed
  • Required to update and manage sports wagering kiosks
  • Required to maintain and balance bank drawer
  • Handles guest relations and minor guest disputes
  • Communicate sports wagering information to supervisor including any irregularities in customers’ play
  • Required to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Required to enthusiastically support, actively promote, and demonstrate superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs 
  • Responsible for effectively handling customer concerns and requests or ensure the information is communicated to a supervisor
  • Maintains complete confidentiality of all guest and company information
  • Performs all job duties in a safe and responsible manner
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by department and/or company management

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have ability to:

 

  • Must be able to sit / stand / walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced Casino Environment:
  • Low Lighting
  • Noise / loud music
  • Multiple distractions while multi-tasking

 

  • Must be able to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekend hours 
  • Be physically mobile with the ability to move around all work areas effectively and efficiently with reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces or crowded conditions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The Sportsbook Writer must be a minimum of 18 years of age, high school diplomate or equivalent and have an interest in sports and related activities. Three months of experience in Sportsbook operations as a Sportsbook Writer or six months casino experience preferred. Results oriented, hands-on professional with the ability to interact effectively with the public, staff, and colleagues. Possess professionalism and ability to handle high levels of stress and comprehensive math skills. This position spends majority of the shift on in the sportsbook area and is subject to varying levels of crowds and noise levels the severity of which depends upon customer volume. Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend technical procedures, government regulations, instructions, and correspondence/memos in English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

 

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the casino
  • Obtain required license(s)
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations
  • Responsible for taking the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco
  • Knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department
  • Knowledge of the property’s programs to address problem gambling
  • Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and Internal Controls
  • Responsible for taking the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management
  • Reports any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member that they have knowledge of
