What will you be doing!
- Preparing and reviewing project documentation, including design plans, concept reports, technical specifications, customer proposals, work plans, tender documents, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Preparing, reviewing, and approving technical reports, analyses, and specifications.
- Managing project resources—including contractors and technical staff—to meet quality, code, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Ensuring work under your responsibility complies with all quality, regulatory, and customer standards.
- Maintaining confidentiality in all matters related to projects and operations.
- Completing and maintaining all required safety and operational training.
- Sharing acquired knowledge, experience, and best practices with peers and team members.
- Identifying and reporting any potential hazards; wearing required PPE; and participating in safety training.
- Supporting the design, modification, and improvement of mechanical and process systems for new and existing facilities.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
Education:
- Bachelor (Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba (EGM) as a Registered Professional Engineer.
Experience:
- Minimum of eight (8) years of related engineering experience, preferably involving commercial or industrial building systems within the nuclear, process, or power industries.
- Experience with AutoCAD or other engineering design software.
- Familiarity with building and piping codes and standards (ASME, CSA).
- Knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code and ASME B31 piping standards.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, CSA B51 pressure boundary systems, piping systems, facilities design, and maintenance.
- Formal project management training or experience is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of building and piping codes and compliance standards.
- Ability to organize and maintain workflow accuracy using strong judgment and initiative.
- Demonstrated punctuality, dependability, and safety-minded.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to understand and manage detailed technical information.
- Demonstrated responsibility and accountability for technical deliverables.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and respond with initiative.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required
Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3‑5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- This position is part of the WPEG union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in their Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
Must possess normal physical agility necessary for bending, lifting, and mobility.
Must be capable of wearing and working in protective clothing and PPE as required.
Occasional exposure to radiation and industrial hazards during construction/demolition site visits in controlled environments.
