Job Description

Job Summary:

The Service Engineer role for the Maretron and Octoplex Jupiter Facility is primarily responsible for the evaluation, assembly, programming, maintenance, and repair of Maretron and Octoplex digital switching products and related marine electronics. This position serves as a key technical resource supporting Octoplex system configuration, troubleshooting, and long-term product support at the Jupiter facility. The role may also provide limited field service support and light travel to assist OEM partners, vessel commissioning, and escalated technical issues.

Service Engineers may be required to work with or without schematics or formal instructions and are expected to diagnose component- and system-level failures using standard lab-grade test equipment. This role requires light component-level repair and soldering skills, with a primary focus on system functionality, configuration, and reliability rather than high-volume board repair. FLIR Maritime U.S. seeks a self-starting, time-conscious, and professional candidate who can work independently and collaboratively. This is a full-time, in-office, permanent position.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot Maretron and Octoplex-branded products at the system and component level
  • Assemble, configure, and program Octoplex digital switching solutions
  • Perform light component-level repairs, including basic PCB modifications, soldering, re-wiring, and software updates
  • Support system networking, configuration, and software version control
  • Stay current on product updates, firmware revisions, and engineering fixes
  • Identify and report manufacturing defects or recurring issues to relevant departments
  • Collaborate with senior staff to create or update repair procedures and work instructions
  • Perform light SAP database and service documentation work
  • Provide limited field service and technical support, including light travel as required

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Certificate or Associate degree in electronics, engineering, IT, or a related field preferred
  • Hands-on electronics assembly and service experience
  • Marine industry experience preferred
  • Strong computer, networking, and system-based troubleshooting skills
  • Background in IT, maritime systems, or engineering strongly preferred
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving ability, including root cause analysis of electronic faults
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical findings to internal teams, OEMs, and customers (B2B & B2C)

Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
