To guide students through the initial part of their professional development in medicine with considerations given to students’ academic needs, goals, interests and prior education, along with available institutional and school support services.Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling or similar area and a three years of related experience. Master’s degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal skills. Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to learn and use computer programs, network software and database management systems. Ability to effectively and efficiently find and analyze information. Ability to process and maintain confidential information. Ability to work effectively with individuals from varying backgrounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess individual students’ study skills, identify appropriate resources and make appropriate referrals for students perceived to be at risk
Assist students in the development of individualized educational plans
Maintain appropriate administrative documents
Develop and promote internal communication and resource sharing in order to promote student success
Track the collective needs of students
Provide recommendations for continuous improvement for all services related to academic advising
Integrate best practices and technology aimed at improving student services

Physical and Environmental Demands
Requires occasional bending (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
