Assistant Superintendent

What you will be doing:
The Assistant Superintendent will support the Project Superintendent in overseeing high-rise construction projects. This role involves coordinating with laborers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with design, budget, and schedule, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety on the construction site.

Providing administrative and technical support and direction on the construction project site.
Enforcing company and project policies, ensuring the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
Contributing to the development of a construction plan and managing subcontractor activities.
Attending required construction meetings with consultants and subtrades.
Ensuring construction compliance with design requirements, project materials, and workmanship meet the project/ Company quality standards.
Maintaining third party and consultant reports to ensure deficiency correction is completed and signed off monthly. Maintain zero deficiencies.
Maintaining accurate project documentation and logs, including daily summaries with health and safety details, employee attendance, progress updates, and site photos.
Ensuring accurate procurement logs. Confirming long lead items against schedule.
Reviewing site work as directed by the Superintendent.
Monitoring MS Project Schedule and providing start and finish dates to Superintendent weekly.
Supervising and coordinating field engineering and construction activities, including scheduling and supervising building finishing disciplines and handyman work.
Ordering and scheduling concrete and rebar deliveries.
Directing site laborers and reviewing their timesheets to ensure timely completion. Tracking subcontractor work performed on a Time and Materials basis.
Ensuring compliance with project construction schedule budgets.
Advising senior management of potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties, and assisting in resolving such conflicts.
Reporting on the progress of the project to all stakeholders.
Overseeing the filing and administrative components onsite to ensure proper documentation, logging, and filing.
Supervising staff in the absence of the Superintendent.
Implementing SKYGRiD’s Safety Program to create a safe work environment and adhering to safety and record-keeping requirements.
Holding weekly toolbox talks with the site team and participating in discussions.
Liaising with City officials to set up permits, inspections, etc.
Other duties, as required.
What you will bring:
Educational and experience requirements include a Construction-related University Degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
A minimum of 5 years of construction high-rise experience.
Proven leadership ability.
Strong knowledge of structural drawings.
Foresight to predict problems before they develop.
Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings, and other documents.
Knowledge of Tarion and B19 requirements and guidelines, considered an asset.
Proven ability to achieve “building occupancy” with city officials.
Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and clearly communicate with others.

Pay Transparency:
The estimated salary range for this role is $75,000- $115,000.
The posted salary range reflects the expected base pay for this role. Actual compensation will depend on job-related skills, experience, and qualifications. SKYGRiD is committed to pay equity and transparency, and further details will be shared during the hiring process.

Possibility of weekend work, based on operational needs
Location:
Greater Toronto Area, ON
Travelling will be required to job site. Having a vehicle would be beneficial.
