Lead and enhance the Underwriting & New Business function
Supervise the daily function of the underwriting team, deliver timely and accurate services to sales channel including but not limited to brokerage, bancassurance, etc.
Perform risk assessment within the delegated authority limit to protect the company’s benefit and enhance company’s profit within service pledge
Accurate, fair and appropriate underwriting decision with lowest cost
Manages underwriting quality
Responsibilities
Be the delegated responsible person for Underwriting Service support to sales channel including brokerage and bancassurance
Support sales channel enquiries and deliver workshops to meet their needs
Develop underwriting guidelines, procedures and practices, maintain market competitiveness and compliant with regulatory requirements
Organize and deliver training to the team to support development and enhance competency level
Perform risk assessment within the specified authorization limits
Provide second approval of referred applications from Underwriters
Ensure the assigned tasks comply with the Company’s New Business Policy & Procedures, Underwriting Guidelines and Rules and service pledges
Make recommendations and execute process streamlining and service improvement initiatives
Allocate work and monitor productivity and work quality to ensure consistency and accuracy of output
Handle ad-hoc assignments, including product development and system enhancement projects
Requirements & Preferred Skills
University graduated in any discipline
5 - 6 years of experience in underwriting (medical & financial)
In-depth knowledge of Life, CI, Medical products
Competent knowledge of underwriting philosophy, guidelines and requirements
Competent knowledge of regulatory requirements
Problem solving skill on non-standard and difficult situations
Maintain strong team and channels relationships
Team player across all business line
Competent knowledge of medical and financial aspects
Understanding of systems for processing, streamlining and service improvement
Good knowledge of the operations and sales support processes
