Orthopaedic Clinical Fellow - Foot & Ankle

Job Description

We are looking for a Clinical Fellow to join a well-established and supportive Foot and Ankle Unit within the Trauma and Orthopaedic team. The appointee will be expected to participate in all facets of the provision care for patients with foot and ankle pathology presenting to the hospital. They will be expected to care for patients both in the clinic and operating theatre setting. There will be an expectation through the year that the successful candidate will progress towards independent practice but will be supported by the five consultants within the unit during this time.

The successful candidate may be asked to undertake some middle grade general orthopaedic on call but will not formally be on the rota. These on call commitments will only be undertaken after the rota co-ordinator has confirmed with the foot and ankle consultants that they will not unduly interfere with the fellowship.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment of patients in clinic

Care for the patients on the ward

Undertaking surgical procedures on patients with foot and ankle pathology.

Helping on an ad hoc basis with the middle grade on call rota as above.

Essential

  • Higher professional training in Trauma & Orthopaedics
  • full GMC registration with licence to practice

Desirable

  • BSc Or Alternative

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Foot & Ankle experience at Specialist Registrar level or alternative

Clinical Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of Foot & Ankle surgery
  • Understanding of clinical risk management.

Desirable

  • FRCS T&O
  • IT skills.
  • Breadth of experience in and outside speciality.
  • Effective, confident presentation ability.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate appropriate level of clinical knowledge.
  • Knowledge and use of evidence-based practice.
  • IT skills.
  • Breadth of experience in and outside speciality.
  • Effective, confident presentation ability.

  • Understanding the principles of research and demonstrating research experience
