Annual Salary: $64,646.40 - $77,604.80

About us:

Founded in 1960, the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is one of the largest and most comprehensive non-profit agencies in Ottawa and a registered charity. It provides mental health services, employment programs, emergency shelter, community, health and housing services, and justice programs to youth in the Ottawa area, serving between 2,500 and 3,000 at‑risk individuals aged 12+ and their families every month. YSB employs 400 caring professionals in a unionized environment in over 21 locations across Ottawa.

FutureReady Youth is an innovative workforce development program designed to support youth aged 15-30 in developing the skills, confidence, and experience needed to secure and maintain meaningful employment. Delivered through 10 cohorts across Ottawa, the program serves 100 youth through a flexible, youth-centered approach that combines employment readiness, life stabilization, individualized coaching, employer engagement, and ongoing retention support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Caseworker/Facilitator plays a critical role in group facilitation, case management, coaching, participant engagement, and employment support to help youth overcome barriers and achieve employment and career goals.
  • Delivery of engaging workshops.
  • Provide individualized coaching, coordinate participant supports, monitor progress
  • Maintains strong relationships with employers, community partners, and program participants.
  • Conduct participant assessments to identify strengths, barriers, needs, and employment or career goals, and develop individualized service and case management plans.
  • Provide case management, coaching, mentoring, career counselling, and employment interventions to support participants in achieving short- and long-term goals.
  • Deliver individual and group counselling, workshops, training sessions, drop-in services, outreach activities, and other employment readiness programming.
  • Facilitate engaging workshops focused on career exploration, employability skills, workplace readiness, life skills, and personal development.
  • Support participants with career planning, job search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation, interview skills, and employment retention.
  • Coordinate referrals and access to community, educational, employment, and support services to address barriers and enhance participant success.
  • Monitor participant progress, maintain regular follow-up, and adjust service plans as needed to support positive outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, community partners, service providers, and other stakeholders to support participant engagement and employment opportunities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of labour market trends, employment resources, community services, Employment Ontario programs, and relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and confidential documentation, including case notes, participant records, outcome tracking, and data entry within case management systems.
  • Maintain electronic and physical participant files in accordance with organizational standards, funder requirements, and privacy legislation.
  • Contribute to program planning, development, implementation, evaluation, continuous improvement, and reporting activities.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and the hiring, training, mentoring, and supervision of students, interns, or volunteers as required.
  • Apply trauma-informed, strengths-based, culturally responsive, and youth-centered approaches in all participant interactions and service delivery.
  • Follow safe work practices and uphold organizational policies, professional standards, ethical guidelines, and confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Social Services, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Community Development, Human Services, Career Development, Adult Education, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth in employment services, education, social services, workforce development, or related programs. 
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and public speaking skills. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities. 
  • Proven coaching, mentoring, motivational interviewing, and participant engagement skills. 
  • Knowledge of youth development, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive practices. 
  • Ability to support career exploration, job search, resume development, interview preparation, and employment retention. 
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and case documentation skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management databases. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Demonstrated empathy, professionalism, cultural competency, ethical judgment, adaptability, and a collaborative, youth-centered approach.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth in employment services, education, social services, workforce development, or related programs. 
  • Experience facilitating workshops, group learning activities, and delivering training. 
  • Experience providing case management, coaching, mentoring, career guidance, or counselling support. 
  • Experience supporting individuals facing employment barriers and working with vulnerable or marginalized populations is an asset. 
  • Knowledge of local labour market trends, employment resources, and Employment Ontario programs is preferred.
     

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Successful applicants will be required to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check obtained within the past six (6) months, as a condition of employment with YSB.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are required.
  • To confirm language proficiency required for this position, successful candidates may be requested to undergo an oral and written assessment conducted by a third-party provider, arranged by YSB. Candidates must meet the minimum required linguistic profile before their employment start date. Formal education may be considered as sufficient demonstration of language proficiency, but is subject to review.
