BUSINESS UNIT
POSITION
We are looking for a Sydney-based Assistant Finance Manager (all genders) to manage payroll, compliance, month-end close, Lucanet consolidation, audit coordination and tax information support, support the Finance Director with finance controls, stakeholder coordination and ERP migration/process improvement.
CHALLENGE
- Prepare and manage fortnightly payroll for approx. 60 employees, including casual, hourly-rate and salaried staff.
- Use ADP Realtime and ADP Payforce for payroll processing and reporting.
- Prepare payroll journals, accruals, reconciliations, payroll tax reporting and related compliance.
- Ensure payroll is accurate and ready for Finance Director review and Managing Director approval.
- Maintain strict confidentiality over payroll, remuneration and sensitive employee information.
- Review monthly BAS reports prepared by the Management Accountant and coordinate with BDO for lodgement.
- Oversee month-end work prepared by the Management Accountant, including journals, reconciliations, accruals and results review.
- Manage confidential payroll-related month-end journals, accruals and reporting.
- Prepare basic monthly variance comments for major movements against prior month, budget or HQ expectations.
- Upload local monthly results into Lucanet for HQ consolidation and validate submission accuracy.
- Communicate with HQ Global Accounting on local results and consolidation matters, copying the Finance Director on key matters.
- Support external audit by coordinating requests, allocating tasks to the Management Accountant, AP and AR teams, tracking completion and reviewing support where required.
- Prepare year-end, income tax and FBT information request files for BDO and Finance Director review.
- Respond to BDO queries within role scope and escalate complex or judgement-based matters to the Finance Director.
- Support ERP migration from Exact to MYOB Acumatica, including data validation, testing, documentation, issue follow-up and post-go-live stabilisation.
- Supervise, guide and review the Management Accountant's work.
- Work effectively with the FD, MD, HQ Global Accounting, department heads, BDO, auditors, AP and AR teams.
Authority
Coordinate and review payroll, BAS, month-end close, audit/tax requests, Lucanet submissions and finance support activities. Final approval remains with the FD, MD, BDO, HQ or relevant authority. Complex or higher-risk matters must be escalated to the FD.

ADP Realtime, ADP Payforce, Lucanet, Exact ERP, MYOB Acumatica, Microsoft Excel.
FOR THIS EXCITING MISSION YOU ARE EQUIPPED WITH...
- 5+ years relevant finance/accounting experience.
- Hands-on Australian payroll experience.
- Month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
- BAS/GST understanding.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience reviewing work prepared by others.
- Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Ability to coordinate across AP, AR, external accountants, auditors, HQ and local stakeholders.
- Ability to use ERP/accounting systems and adapt through system migration.
Qualifications
CPA/CA qualified or close to completion preferred. Relevant degree preferred.

LOCATION, MOBILITY, INCENTIVE
The attractive remuneration is in line with the market and, in addition to a fixed monthly salary, all necessary work equipment and mobility, will also include an annual or multi-year bonus.
Location: Sydney CBD, hybrid 2-3 office days/week
