POSITION SUMMARY
The Materials Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling materials, equipment, and consumables to support project execution. This role ensures that materials are available at the right time, in the correct quantity, and at the appropriate cost while maintaining compliance with company policies, HSE standards, and industry regulations.
 
PROJECT DETAILS
  • Site is at the Cenovus Christina Lake North plant
  • 8/6 rotation
  • $300/shift travel allowance
  • Camp accommodations provided
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES 
Materials Planning & Coordination
  • Coordinate procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of materials for all project activities
  • Forecast material requirements based on work schedules, maintenance plans, and project timelines
  • Track material usage and inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock
  • Liaise with procurement, warehouse, logistics, and operations teams to ensure timely delivery
  • Establishes procedures for material storage and handling
Inventory & Warehouse Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP systems if required
  • Conduct regular stock counts and audits; investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and preservation of materials and equipment
  • Manage obsolete, surplus, and damaged materials in accordance with company procedures
Logistics & Expediting
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, including freight forwarding and documentation
  • Expedite critical materials to meet operational or project deadlines
  • Coordinates logistics for transporting materials to project sites, including shipping schedules, documentation, and delivery confirmations
  • Track shipments and provide status updates to stakeholders
  • Oversees distribution of materials to FIWP requirements
Cost Control & Reporting
  • Monitor material costs and support cost control initiatives
  • Prepare materials reports, including inventory status, consumption, and forecasts
  • Support project close-out activities by reconciling materials and documentation
Compliance & HSE
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Support HSE requirements related to handling, storage, and transportation of materials
  • Maintain complete and accurate materials documentation and records
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
  • 2 - 4 years of working experience in a related field is required for this position
  • Experience reviewing standards, codes, and requirements and applying them in the field
  • Previous experience working in an industrial construction industry
  • Ability to read and interpret Material Test Reports (MTR’s)
  • Ability to read P&ID and Isometrics would be considered an asset
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • Dynamic, self-disciplined, and highly motivated
  • Flexible and capable of working under pressure
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Capable of working as part of a team
  • Fluent in speaking and reading English
  • Must be able to follow directions
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, and SharePoint experience would be considered an asset
