- Presents patients to physician for inpatient and residential admissions, processes admissions based on admission criteria, and provides direct professional nursing care to patients.
- Accurately assesses the physical, social, and emotional needs of the patients and families.
- Responsibilities include gathering and entering patient information into the electronic medical record system.
- Enters admission orders including medications into the Electronic Medical Record.
- Completes the entire admission, including skin assessment, obtaining orders, and initiating the care plan.
- Provides exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers. Identifies issues of customer service and acts to resolve issues within available options. Refers complex and unresolved issues to the appropriate party.
- Demonstrates a knowledge base necessary to care for adolescents through geriatric patients in the psychiatric care system.
- Functions independently to arrive at an appropriate solution as a result of sound decision-making and critical nursing thinking skills.
- Demonstrates ability to assess the patient for risk of aggressive/escalating behavior.
- Engages patients who are at risk and applies alternatives to physical intervention by using verbal techniques to de-escalate.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives.
- Contributes to the development of an effective, high-performing admissions team.
- Maintains integrity and confidentiality of information.
- Supports the philosophy of patient and family centered care, recognizing the individual needs of the family. Supports family involvement in the care of the patient and supports family presence.
- Provides report to the Patient Care Unit RN via hand-off communication.
- . In-depth knowledge of programs and services offered at LCOH. Promotes programs enthusiastically, exhibiting the highest level of professionalism, confidentiality and relationship skills.
- Works with external referrers to facilitate admissions and cultivate referrer relationships. Maintains collaborative relationship with external resources.
- Schedules patients for assessments, following specified program guidelines.
- Discusses financial expectations with patients. For private pay services, reviews pricing and payment expectations prior to admission. Reviews payment alternatives with patients and families prior to admission to help them determine how they can pay for private pay services.
- Documentation concisely and accurately reflects patient presentation and is timely.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment. Exhibits organizational skills, and is efficient, proactive, and systematic in the provision of RN admission duties.
- Demonstrates sound clinical practices related to nursing care provided to patients.
- Participates in departmental staff meetings and in-service trainings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Registered Nurse with current licensure in the State of Ohio. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
- CPR Certification is required.
- Certification of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the American Nurse Association Credentialing Center (preferred).
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for the spectrum of populations admitted to LCOH.
- Effective leadership skills to work independently when necessary and as a team member with other staff members of the ARC Team.
- Ability to enthusiastically follow and model the LCOH mission, vision and values.
- Presents self in a professional manner and effectively relates to others for varying backgrounds.
