Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Supports the various daily plant quality meetings with a focus on supplied part quality issues.
- Monitors supplier performance and report results to management.
- Ensures proper execution of the various systems and procedures within the organization.
- Develops and maintains an effective team who demonstrates effective communication, cooperation, critical thinking, project management, quality systems and improvement techniques, and negotiation skills.
- Inspires and motivates the team. Manages performance, provides constructive and respectful feedback to encourage and enable performance excellence. Lead by example.
- Evaluates team performance versus annual objectives; mentors and assists employees in achieving goals and objectives.
- Orients, trains, and mentors staff to develop a successful team.
- Establishes and maintains successful relationships with suppliers, design and development team, and regulatory departments.
- Works with the commodity based Supplier Quality Engineers to provide as required supplier development and advanced problem solving support for targeted suppliers.
- Ensures required supplier quality documentation is organized and retained according to corporate guidelines.
- Works as a liaison between Operations, Quality and Reliability, Product Engineering and the supplier to resolve as delivered supplied part issues and to provide technical support.
- Supports containment of supplied part quality issues across the various global manufacturing sites.
- Supports investigation of supplier quality problems and coordinates implementation of effective and timely resolutions.
- Provides as needed support for formal 8D problem solving containment, root cause and corrective action documentation.
- Supports supplied part cost recovery requests from the various global manufacturing facilities.
- Communicates supplier part quality issues.
- Provides as needed support for various systems, including Supplier Quality Notification (SQN), SAP ERP and online PPAP’s.
- Performs special activities and assignments as requested.
- Manages ongoing relationships and resolves conflicts as needed.
- Develops, maintains, and adheres to corporate purchasing and supplier quality policies and procedures.

Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Mathematics, or Management preferred.
- People leadership experience preferred.
- Oral and written communication skills - ability to communicate orally and in written format in cross-functional environments; including leadership.
- Knowledge of statistical quality control techniques.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly plant processes.
- Knowledge of gaging techniques and MSA.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
- Experienced with geometric design and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong analytical capability where problems are complex.
- Collaboration in a variety of work settings.
- Experience with a variety of Purchasing / Global Supply Chain concepts.
- Wide degree of creativity and latitude.
- Knowledge of manufacturing or automotive quality standards.
- Ability to organize, plan, document tasks, and prioritize work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of AIAG standards - APQP, Control Plans, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, and MSA.
- Working knowledge of the automotive industry 8D problem solving tool.
- Certified in various advanced problem solving skills – Six Sigma, Red X, Kepner Tregoe, or equivalent processes
- Working experience in an automotive manufacturing or assembly setting
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Quality Analyst (CQA)
- ASQ certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
Preferred Qualification:
- Understanding of IATF 16949 quality system requirements
- Experience in heavy duty automotive industry
- Familiar with SAP software
Experience
- 2 or more years of experience in the procurement, quality or manufacturing field or in a related area.
Scope
- Manages assignments and workload of the team including daily tasks and associated priorities, such that they are aligned with enterprise goals.
- Sets clear objectives and measures, monitors progress, and results.
- Accountable for results of a small to moderate team including managing and measuring internal metrics.
- Delegates both routine and important tasks, decisions, and projects.
- Identifies and sets the priorities of the work group.
- Accountable to work with the team to construct compelling development plans and execute them.
