Director, Deal Advisory – APAC
About SLR and the role
Working within Finance Advisory, the Director, Deal Advisory – APAC will establish and lead SLR’s Deal Advisory presence across Asia Pacific, with Singapore as the regional hub. This is a senior leadership role (typically 10+ years’ experience) combining hands‑on delivery, market development, client origination and team build‑out. The role is expected to act act as a trusted advisor to senior investment professionals, including private equity, credit, infrastructure, sovereign and institutional investors across APAC.
The Director will oversee and lead Deal Advisory engagements across the full investment lifecycle — spanning ESG due diligence, fund‑level advisory (including but not limited to: ESG programs, reporting, and data frameworks), and portfolio company engagement. The mandate is to build a credible, investor-aligned Deal Advisory platform that integrates SLR’s global capabilities and establishes SLR, in short order, as a pre‑eminent deal advisory partner in Asia.
Products and services will be built by leveraging SLR’s global Deal Advisory IP and adapting it for APAC markets — ensuring speed to market, consistency of quality, and relevance to regional investor needs.
Key Responsibilities
·Client leadership & origination - Build, own and deepen senior relationships with APAC-based private markets investors (private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real assets, sovereign and institutional capital), acting as a trusted advisor at investment committee and senior stakeholder level, and actively originating new business opportunities.
·Deal Advisory delivery (full lifecycle) - Lead and deliver high-value Deal Advisory engagements, including ESG due diligence, investment risk/opportunity assessment, fund-level ESG advisory, and portfolio company engagement, ensuring outputs are commercially relevant and decision-useful.
·Fund & firm-level advisory - Support clients in developing ESG programs, governance structures, data systems, reporting frameworks and LP-facing disclosures, aligned to global standards and investor expectations.
·Portfolio company engagement - Work with portfolio companies and management teams to translate deal-stage insights into actionable post-investment value creation and risk mitigation initiatives.
·Product and service shaping - Adapt, refine and localise SLR’s global Deal Advisory methodologies, tools and IP to suit APAC markets, building repeatable, high-quality delivery models.
·Team build‑out and leadership - Define and build the initial APAC Deal Advisory team, including recruitment, team structure, and ongoing development of junior talent.
·Market development & business building - Lead market activation in APAC, including priority account development, opportunity shaping, pricing strategy, and conversion of pipeline into anchor mandates.
·Financial accountability -Own the P&L and financial performance of the APAC Deal Advisory business.
Experience & Profile
·Typically 10+ years of professional experience, including 3–5 years in sustainability, ESG or responsible investment within consulting, transaction advisory, or private markets environments.
·Proven experience advising private markets clients across transaction advisory, ESG due diligence, fund advisory and/or portfolio company engagement.
·Exposure to a range of asset classes, including private equity, credit, infrastructure and real assets.
·Strong relationship builder with an existing network across APAC private markets; credible with senior investment professionals and comfortable engaging at investment committee and board level.
·Demonstrated ability to originate and convert business opportunities, alongside delivering high-quality advisory work.
·Experience managing teams and developing junior talent, with the ability to scale a team alongside market growth.
·Familiarity with global and APAC-specific sustainability regulations, standards and disclosure frameworks.
·Entrepreneurial and comfortable operating in a build-as-you-go environment with high autonomy.
Primary KPI
Deal Advisory revenue delivered from APAC private markets clients.
Strength and depth of senior client relationships across APAC.
Conversion of business development opportunities into recurring mandates.
Progress in establishing a scalable, integrated Deal Advisory platform in APAC.
