Job Title: Adjunct Teaching - School of Music - Music 160R & 359R: Jazz Trumpet Instructor

Post Close Date: July 1, 2026

Position Start Date: August 24, 2026

Required Degree: Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance or a closely related field. Master's degree preferred.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: Required 5+ years of experience teaching jazz trumpet lessons and 5+ years of experience performing professionally in jazz styles.

Duties/Expectations:

  • Teach Music 160R and Music 359R: Jazz Trumpet and private lessons
  • Firm commitment to the aims and mission of BYU
  • Exceptional student mentoring skills
  • Ability to demonstrate musical expertise
  • Assist students with technique, theory, style, and improvisation
  • Provide positive and inclusive learning environment
