Position Start Date: September 1, 2026

Required Degree: PhD in Music Composition or Music Theory.

The required degree must be completed by the start date. 

Experience: Minimum of two years of university-level music teaching experience, including undergraduate theory and ear training.

Duties/Expectations: 

Expected to teach the following courses:

• Music 195 Theory
• Music 293 Aural Skills
• Music 298 Sight-Singing
• Music 287 Composition Seminar

Expected to have:

• A firm commitment to the Aims and Mission of BYU
• A firm commitment to the mission of the School of Music
• Ability to effectively mentor students
• Exemplary leadership skills
• Classroom management skills
