Position Title: Family Support Worker Supervisor (Family Visitation Program)
Reporting Relationship: Program Manager or Designee

Hours: Contract position, non-traditional hours 


POSITION SUMMARY:
The Family Support Worker Supervisor (Family Visitation Program) position works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the
children and families served. This position works closely with youth, family, foster parents, and community partners, providing
advocacy and support toward the ultimate goal of living safely and successfully in the community. Provides mentoring, case
consultation and support to employees within assigned department or program.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Family Support Worker Supervisor will perform duties including, but not limited to:
• Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
• Travels as needed, to provide and support the provision of services to, and on behalf of, youth and families in compliance
with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
• Completes all required documentation and training in a timely manner.
• Coordinates, and facilitates the transportation for the youth and families in the community, including but not limited to,
family visitation time, mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, independent living, crisis, and social
services appointments.
• Works with program staff to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.
• Establishes and maintains strong relationship with foster parents and families of origin.
• Actively participates in the regular supervision process with direct reports.
• Review, process and assign all referrals for transportation and visitation for the youth and families in the community, as
appropriate.
• Performs other duties as requested.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have a High school education.
• 2 years of experience working in direct service with youth and families required.
• Must demonstrate a sincere commitment to the service and advocacy for youth and families.
• Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and a good driving record.
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well
as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.


OTHER SKILLS:• A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours in the service of foster caregivers, families of origin, and persons
served.
• Capacity to interpret and apply organizational policies and procedures.
• Capacity to be flexible and responsive to youth served, foster caregivers, system partners, and internal customers.
• Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
• Capacity to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic,
religious, and racial backgrounds.
• Consistently exercises discretion and independent judgement. Readily confers with supervisor in complex or unique
situations.
• Demonstrates tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.
• Demonstrates strategic and critical thinking resulting in effective time and task management.
• Demonstrates ability to coach others, transferring knowledge and information in easily understandable terms.
• Demonstrates capacity to remain objective yet connected, manages reactivity and self-regulates in response to challenges.

 

DRIVING AND OTHER VEHICLE REQUIRMENTS:

• Must hold a Valid driver's license 
• Reliable personal transportation
• Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,00/$300,000 bodily injury liability
