$131.90 - $211.05The Vice President (VP), Real World Data & Evidence (RWD&E) is responsible for leveraging real-world data (RWD) to advance clinical research and innovation across Advocate Health via the National Center for Clinical Trials (NCCT). This role requires a visionary leader with deep expertise in RWD strategy, analytics, and evidence generation to deliver long-term growth, operational excellence, and industry leadership. The VP will collaborate with the executive team to define the vision, set priorities, and ensure scalability and compliance of RWD&E offerings. The VP will champion a culture of innovation, integrity, and service excellence to drive efficiency, quality, and impact across the organization.
Major Responsibilities:
Strategy, Leadership & External Representation
- Set the strategic direction, business objectives, and performance metrics for the RWD&E line of business, ensuring alignment with NCCT’s mission and corporate goals.
- Oversee and guide all RWD&E department leaders to deliver on strategic vision, financial targets, and operational goals.
- Lead and mentor the RWD&E team, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and high performance.
- Build key industry relationships and represent NCCT to external stakeholders, including clients, partners, investors, and regulators.
- Represent RWD&E in executive meetings and national forums, championing its value internally and externally.
RWD&E Portfolio, Study Execution & Scientific Rigor
- Oversee RWD&E study designs, client engagement, project activities, and develop project timelines and budgets.
- Execute RWD studies using diverse data sources (e.g., EHR, claims, registries).
- Provide biostatistical support and analysis, ensuring rigorous and scientifically sound methodologies for study publications.
- Collaborate closely with the Clinical Trials Methods Center (CTMC) to align RWD methodologies with clinical trial design standards, ensuring consistency in statistical approaches, protocol development, and integration of advanced analytics.
- Collaborate with Clinical Trial Operations and healthcare teams to integrate RWD into workflows, optimize protocols, and improve patient recruitment and retention.
- Define and monitor KPIs for RWD&E studies and use data-driven insights to identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Data Strategy, Technology & Innovation
- Oversee the design, development, and launch of market-leading RWD&E offerings, ensuring alignment with client needs and business objectives.
- Develop and operationalize data strategies and governance frameworks to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with privacy laws such as HIPAA and GDPR.
- Oversee RWD&E data management plans and SOPs, including data collection, storage, and analytics processes.
- Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and introduce advanced analytics techniques (e.g., AI and ML) to enhance RWD&E capabilities.
- Provide oversight of all RWD-related vendors and software platforms, including selection, contract management, performance monitoring, and ensuring compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory standards for RWD&E initiatives.
Governance, Financial Management & Stakeholder Alignment
- Serve as the primary RWD&E liaison to sponsors, CROs, investigators, and internal leaders, ensuring strong relationships and delivery on contractual obligations.
- Align closely with the Business Development and Sales function to ensure delivery excellence for awarded work and actively support pre-sales efforts to secure new partnerships and trial opportunities.
- Work closely with Finance and Legal functions on budget and contract development, financial reconciliation, and compliance with sponsor and institutional requirements.
- Manage resources effectively, including forecasting needs, allocating staff and budgets, and maintaining ownership for resource planning to support current and future needs.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, FDA regulations, and IRB requirements; maintain strict data governance and scientific integrity.

Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required; advanced degree (Master’s/PhD) in data science, biostatistics, epidemiology, or a related field strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- In-depth knowledge of RWD&E and the life sciences industry, with a proven track record of strategic planning, market expansion, and building high-value data assets.
- Proficient with statistical modeling, data analysis, AI and machine learning.
- Expertise in RWD sources, study design, and analytical methods.
- Proficient with regulatory frameworks and data privacy laws.
- Strong strategic leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Innovative mindset with comfort in emerging technologies (AI-driven analytics, NLP).
- Exceptional communication and ability to lead in a matrixed environment.
