Maintenance Technician

Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment used in medical device production to ensure high equipment reliability and minimal downtime. The role supports a range of systems, including CNC machining platforms, PLC-controlled equipment, and auxiliary production machinery.
The technician applies strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, interprets technical documentation, and performs structured root cause analysis to drive effective corrective actions. Working both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, the role contributes to operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of equipment performance.
What will you be doing?
The technician performs troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions. Using technical documentation such as blueprints, schematics, and manuals, they carry out repairs, replace defective components, and ensure equipment is restored to optimal performance. The role also includes performing calibration, preventive and corrective maintenance, and supporting equipment installation, testing, modification, and qualification activities.
In addition, the technician collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve equipment issues, participates in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives, and attends production meetings. They utilize diagnostic tools and SAP Plant Maintenance systems, ensure compliance with safety (OSHA) and HSE requirements, and contribute to environmental and energy sustainability efforts. The role requires shift work, strong adherence to compliance standards, and the ability to manage additional responsibilities as assigned.
What will you need to be successful?
This role is based in Batu Kawan, Penang, and requires candidates to hold a Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Candidates should have proven experience in machine maintenance, particularly involving electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as exposure to metal machining processes. Basic PC skills are also essential to support day-to-day maintenance activities and documentation.
The role involves physical demands such as standing, walking, sitting, and frequent use of hands for handling equipment and tools, as well as activities like reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Good vision capabilities and the ability to adjust focus are required to perform detailed tasks effectively. The position requires minimal travel (less than 10%) and adherence to operational and safety expectations, with reasonable accommodations provided where necessary to support individuals with disabilities.
