Position Summary

The Meat Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Meat Department, ensuring high standards for product quality, food safety, merchandising, and customer service. This role drives sales and profitability by maintaining fresh, well-stocked displays, managing inventory effectively, and developing a strong, knowledgeable team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Operations
    • Oversee daily meat department operations including cutting, stocking, and product rotation
    • Ensure all meat and seafood items meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards
    • Maintain clean, organized work areas including cutting rooms, cases, and backrooms
  • Customer Service Excellence
    • Provide exceptional customer service and ensure team members deliver the same
    • Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and preparation recommendations
    • Create a full, fresh, and visually appealing service and self-service case
  • Inventory & Shrink Control
    • Manage ordering to maintain proper inventory levels and minimize out-of-stocks
    • Monitor and reduce shrink through proper cutting, handling, and rotation practices
    • Ensure accurate receiving, pricing, and inventory control
  • Merchandising & Sales
    • Execute ads, features, and seasonal promotions to drive sales
    • Maintain attractive, abundant displays that highlight key items
    • Ensure pricing accuracy and compliance with signage standards
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Supervise, schedule, and train meat department associates
    • Delegate tasks and ensure daily production and stocking goals are met
    • Provide coaching, feedback, and recognition to build a high-performing team
  • Food Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
    • Maintain proper temperature controls, dating, and handling procedures
    • Promote a safe work environment, including proper equipment use
Qualifications
  • Previous meat department or butchery experience required
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Knowledge of meat cutting, trimming, and merchandising practices
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
