Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned department. Summary
The Rehab Therapy Manager provides leadership and oversight of daily operations for the Munson therapy department at Mary Free Bed (MFB). This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered, interdisciplinary care that is both clinically effective and financially responsible through staff leadership, education, and clinical supervision.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
· Staff will provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.
· Establishes treatment objectives, develops written treatment plans, and administers therapy accordingly.
· Assesses patient status and treatment outcomes; revise care plans as needed.
· Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient-centered care.
· Updates patient care plans in real time to ensure safety and effectiveness of treatment.
· Participates in discharge planning, considering patient needs, family involvement, community resources, and environmental factors.
· Provides patient and caregiver education to support discharge and post-discharge care plans.
Educational Responsibilities
· Provides staff education and training through in-services.
· Participates in program development and research initiatives as appropriate.
· Serves as a clinical resource in areas of expertise.
· Acts as a Clinical Instructor for therapy students:
o Supervise, teach, and evaluate student performance.
o Communicate with academic institutions regarding student progress and competency.
Managerial Responsibilities
· Provides oversight of therapy staff, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and rehabilitation technicians.
· Leads recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training of staff.
· Provides ongoing mentoring, professional development, continuing education opportunities, and performance evaluations.
· Ensures that staff competency is assessed, demonstrated, and maintained in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, and aligned with established standards of care and best practices.
· Identifies risks to employee safety and implements appropriate mitigation strategies.
· Maintains a safe, professional, and high-quality work environment consistent with Mary Free Bed standards.
· Oversees the therapy program to improve quality metrics and outcomes.
· Analyzes quality measures and reimbursement data to identify opportunities for clinical and financial improvement.
· Develops and implements process improvement initiatives to sustain high performance.
· Oversees and completes the month-end therapy billing processes.
· Serves as administrator and primary point of contact for the therapy electronic medical record (EMR) system.
· Reviews and supports therapy documentation for insurance appeals and denials.

Customer Service Responsibilities

Essential Job Qualifications
· Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology program. Will also consider PTA, COTA program graduates.
· Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in Michigan.
· Minimum 4 years work experience in a relevant clinical rehabilitation setting.
· Possesses and demonstrates expertise in a specific diagnostic area of rehabilitation.
· Possesses and maintains CPR certification to meet department/program protocol.
· The physical ability to lift, position, and transport patients with physical impairments.
· Demonstrates ability to supervise students.
Preferred Job Qualifications
· Experience with government reimbursement systems and other regulatory bodies related to service line.
· Demonstrates competence in relevant software and hardware required to meet job responsibilities.
