Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a Controls Engineer. 

Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company.  We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027.  The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices.  If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the transaction closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.

What you’ll do:

Basic function:
Ensure the operation of production equipment and machinery through improvements to automated control and equipment safety devices, applying preventive maintenance as a priority, predictive, corrective, problem solving, improving machinery and its related systems, committing to compliance with the objectives of safety, environment, quality, 100% on-time deliveries and reduction of waste, conducting at all times in accordance with Eaton's ethics and values.

Main responsibilities and authority:
•    Develop Standards for Electric Control and deploy them to Maintenance and Engineering departments. 
•    Manage (storage, backups) programs for PLC, HMI, Laser systems, Vision Systems, Safety controllers, EOLT, Technifor, etc
•    Implement and validate Error Proofings to improve Safety, Quality and Productivity
•    Identify systematic issues for electric control, work with Maintenance technicians & Engineering for permanent corrective actions implementation.
•    Troubleshoot PLC, laser sensors, Vision System, LVDT’s, Torque equipment, servos, encoders, Laser Markers, network/Ethernet controls, robot programming and other automation and equipment problems. Chronic issues should be documented (A3, 8D, etc)
•    Lead complex programming activities and support technicians when they are doing the programing. 
•    Maintain the upgrade of equipment to ensure production sustainability.
•    Standardize control & safety devices and spare parts to reduce costs and improve the uptime of the machines.
•    Set the vision to be a Model Plant in regards of technology.
•    Lead or participate in TPM RIE events and other CI initiatives.
•    Serves as a Coach for the Maintenance technicians that support control duties.
•    Responsible for leading the machinery remediation strategy based on international standards and MESH requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

•    Leads/performs A3 or 8D analyzes in the event of security incidents 
•    Participate in the validation, selection or purchase of new equipment 
•    Develops machine safety standards that will be used in Eaton Reynosa MG RFQs 
•    Participates in reliability analysis and provides feedback on any potential failures in safety devices. 
•    Define with engineering security guards, mechanical designs, materials, heights and distances based on MESH requirements
•    Ensures precision in critical machinery safety spare parts (set up, availability and reorder points). 
•    Create safety circuit schematics (PLC, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, as required). 
•    Ensure wiring, routing, and identification meet MESH requirements. 
•    Develop, update and audit APM's. 
•    Provides training to technicians and engineers. 
•    Define maintenance routines for security systems. 
•    Define the required spare parts in stock according to your remediation program. 
•    Participates in the development of the fundamental knowledge strategy (fundamental listening) from the perspective of equipment emulation devices and standards.
•    Proposes improvements to equipment and participates with engineering in case of redesigns required to strengthen equipment security. 
•    Share knowledge and train on aspects of the operation of production machines to personnel who require it from the perspective of machinery control and safety. 
•    Complies with training courses assigned by the human resources department. 
•    Responsible for documenting equipment control and remediation diagrams and schematics 

•    Participates or leads continuous improvement activities in their area effectively, mainly in TPM RIE events, cost savings, security, error proofing or PSK. 
•    Verify the inventory of spare parts of machinery safety devices for Maintenance. 
•    Purchases and/or tracks spare parts (spot buy purchases) for your business unit, contacts tool shops and MRO, also tracks purchases from your D.R., tracks the process (approvals to billing). 
•    Provides feedback to update/strengthen preventive maintenance, TPM's, ETR's, etc. based on history of equipment and machinery failures and/or experience in execution. 
•    Ensures precision in critical spare parts (set up, availability and reorder points). 
•    Follow up on compliance against the forecast or budget of your business unit. 
•    Timely carry out supervision activities (development plans, 1:1, payroll, permits, coverage, etc.) 
•    Follow your LSW and ensure follow-up of your D.R.

Qualifications:

Competencies 
Education level required
• Electronic, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronic, Automatization Engineering degree or similar.

• English skills: conversational advanced

Years and area of experience required
• 5 years’ experience as Industrial Maintenance Technician or 2 years of experience in similar position

Technical competencies
• Machine FMEA/reliability analysis (RCM)
• Knowledge of Mechanics, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electronics and Electricity.
• Control knowledge (PLC, vision systems, laser/percussion marking machines, servomotors, Robots).
• Knowledge of Mechanical drawing. (Autocad/SolidWork).
• Knowledge of measurement systems and devices. (LVDT's, Distance Sensors)
• Knowledge of ultrasonic welding systems.
• Knowledge of pressure drop leak testing systems (Positive/Negative)
• Knowledge of LOTO, Equipment Safety, Electrical Safety, RSP, Industrial Vehicle Safety.
• Knowledge of lifting and transportation systems (Conveyors/Cranes).
• General knowledge in the use of machines and tools.
• LabView knowledge desirable
• Technical English.
• Continuous Improvement Competencies: comply with intermediate level of TPM, 5's, SW, PSK, SUR. Meet a foundation level for VSM, TVSM tools

Additional Information: 

ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEM RESPONSABILITY  
•    Separate dangerous residues from the normal trash  
•    Place the dangerous residues (gloves, cloths, etc.) in the assigned containers. 
•    Maintain area clean and free of contaminants.  
•    Not a waste of water or electricity.   
•    Report any activity that can put in risk my safety and environment.  
•    Identify and give adequate disposition to all chemical products which can contaminate the environment. 
•    Acting immediately in chemists’ discharge case.  
•    Ensure the rights containers for disposition of dangerous residues (identifying containers and containers to prevent discharge)
