RegularWe are seeking an experienced Housing Operations Manager to partner closely with the Director of Housing in leading a high‑performing team responsible for the full lifecycle of corporate and housing at Essex Property Trust. This leader will drive program excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, elevate operational efficiency, and serve as the technical and operational backbone of the function—elevating reporting, data integrity, and process efficiency across the program.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Oversee corporate and employee housing operations, ensuring full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Ensure data accuracy across systems (Yardi and internal tools); identify and resolve discrepancies and maintain audit‑ready records.
Design and improve operational workflows, department forms, and reporting processes to increase efficiency and scalability.
Monitor program performance, identify trends, and deliver data‑driven insights and recommendations to leadership.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and internal stakeholders to support operational success.
Lead, inspire, and support a team of direct reports, providing clear direction, coaching, and daily oversight.
Partner with property operations teams to resolve resident concerns with empathy, urgency, and professionalism.
Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote consistency, efficiency, and compliance.
Stay informed on evolving housing laws, requirements, and best practices to ensure proactive compliance.
Identify areas of risk or opportunity using data and escalate trends with clear, actionable recommendations.
Support ongoing departmental initiatives, system enhancements, and ad hoc analytical projects as needed.
Lead training and development efforts to strengthen team capability, with an emphasis on process discipline and data‑driven decision making.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
5+ years of progressive property management experience, with accountability for team leadership and end‑to‑end people management
Demonstrated experience in a highly analytical or operations‑focused role within property management
Advanced proficiency in Excel required (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, reporting; Power Query a plus)
Experience with Yardi required; Power BI strongly preferred
Proven ability to manage data, build reporting, and drive process improvements at scale
Strong attention to detail with focus on accuracy, compliance, and data integrity
WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced setting, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to shifting deadlines and business needs.
Ability to work Mondays through Fridays in-person office out of our Fremont or Irvine office.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods with minimal physical exertion required.
No travel required; work is primarily office-based.

New hires generally start between $101,000.00 - $127,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
