Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Ophthalmic Scribe to support our physicians and help deliver an outstanding patient experience in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Position Summary
The Ophthalmic Scribe assists physicians by preparing patients and exam rooms, performing diagnostic testing, documenting patient encounters in real time, and supporting overall clinical flow and patient care. Travel between clinic locations and/or overtime may be required based on operational needs.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Perform and document ocular testing including refractions, lensometry, tonometry, visual fields, OCTs, topography, Amsler grids, muscle testing, pupil exams, and related diagnostics.
- Prepare patients for examination and assist with patient flow.
- Accurately scribe patient visits, treatment plans, and physician discussions.
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Prepare exam rooms, maintain sterile technique, and coordinate testing and surgical needs.
- Communicate physician instructions to patients and referring providers.
- Assist with patient calls, pharmacy requests, and general clinical support.

Qualifications
- Minimum of one year experience working as an ophthalmic scribe
- Ability to navigate EHR software system
- Working knowledge of ophthalmic and medication terminology, equipment and CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Working knowledge of basic Ocular anatomy
- Certification preferred by not required
Skills and Abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven quality experience as demonstrated through historical work/achievements
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
- Highly developed organizational skills; comfortable working under time sensitive deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, and Word
