Job Description

Within Clemens Food Group, the Scheduling Team Lead provides day-to-day tactical leadership and operational support to the production scheduling function. This role serves as the subject matter expert and primary point of coordination for assigned scheduling areas, ensuring consistent execution, standardized processes, and balanced decision-making across service, inventory, and operational constraints. The Team Lead works closely with schedulers to remove obstacles, improve workflows, and strengthen cross-training while serving as a key connector between the scheduling team and cross-functional partners. This position combines hands-on scheduling responsibility with process ownership and team support to create a sustainable, high-performing scheduling operation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day tactical support to schedulers, ensuring consistent execution of production schedules aligned to service, inventory, and operational goals.
  • Serve as dotted-line lead for assigned scheduling areas, supporting desk-level performance, problem solving, and balancing workload.
  • Act as primary desk coverage for assigned schedulers during PTO, vacancies, or peak workload periods.
  • Own process and template improvements within assigned scheduling areas to reduce tribal knowledge and increase standardization.
  • Partner with schedulers to implement adjustments required for new item launches (NOR items), serving as the point person for planning and coordination within the assigned area
  • Support seasonal and promotional volume lifts through proactive schedule planning and cross-functional coordination.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies, process friction, and non-value-added activities; elevate systemic issues and contribute to scalable solutions.
  • Reinforce attainment tracking, execution discipline, and root cause problem solving at the desk level.
  • Facilitate cross-training and knowledge sharing to improve team flexibility and enable sustainable workload coverage.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, FSQA, Purchasing, and Logistics to resolve execution challenges and maintain alignment.
  • Support after-hours, second-shift, or weekend scheduling needs as required to ensure business continuity.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (supply chain, logistics, operations management, etc.) or 3+ years of relevant supply chain management experience
  • Expectation of 5+ years of experience in supply chain management, prior team leadership experience and perishable scheduling experience preferred
  • Ideal candidate would excel navigating cross functionally within in a manufacturing or food production business, collaborating with other areas to make balanced decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and execute measurable and sustainable process improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (preferred systems experience would include SAP, Excel, BI, etc.)
  • Multi-task oriented and a collaborative team player with service orientation
  • Ability to excel in fast-paced environment where change and growth are part of the culture
  • Travel as needed (~10%)
