Job Description
Role summary
We're hiring a hands-on Technical Manager to stand up and lead our India DCx team. This is a builder-leader role: you'll hire the team, set the technical bar, own delivery against the cross-OpCo roadmap, and stay deep enough in the code and architecture to be the technical tie-breaker when it counts. You will be the single point of accountability for everything the India team ships — across all four operating companies — and the strategic counterpart to the US-based Delivery Leads.
What you'll do
Own end-to-end engineering delivery for the DCx program across Qualitrol, Anderson Negele, Gems Setra, and Hengstler Dynapar.
- Partner directly with OpCo business leaders — GMs, VPs of Sales/Marketing, Product Owners, BAs — to co-create the feature backlog, prioritize releases, and translate business intent into delivery commitments. You are the senior India face of the DCx program for the OpCos.
- Engage regularly with OpCo users — CSRs, sales reps, distributors, and end customers — to ground the team in real-world impact; run periodic user-research sessions and validate that what we ship actually moves the business needle.
Hire, coach, and grow a 9-person team spanning BigCommerce engineering, integration, data, configurator, QA, scrum, and BA.
Be the technical tie-breaker on architecture decisions — BigCommerce Catalyst vs Stencil, OIC vs direct integration, Fabric pipeline design, AI-tool adoption.
Partner with the US Director on the quarterly roadmap, charter sign-offs, and vendor reduction strategy (replacing American Eagle / Capgemini scope progressively).
Establish engineering standards: code review, branching, CI/CD, observability, security, accessibility, performance.
Drive AI-first ways of working — Cursor / Copilot / Claude / agentic helpers in code, test, and ops workflows.
Run the operating cadence — daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, monthly OpCo business reviews, quarterly planning — in lock-step with US counterparts and OpCo leadership.
Manage the engineering budget, vendor handoffs, and capacity plan; report headline metrics (velocity, defect-escape, deploy frequency, OpCo NPS, feature adoption) to leadership.
Must have
5-10 years building B2B / B2C commerce, portal, or content platforms.
Hands-on depth in **BigCommerce** (Catalyst, Stencil, B2B Edition) OR a comparable commerce platform
Strong integration architecture experience
Working knowledge of a modern data platform (Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake) and how analytics feeds back into the product.
Experience running Scrum-at-scale with distributed teams across time zones.
Strong written communication — you can write a one-page charter that gets investment funded.
Comfort with AI-augmented development — you have first-hand opinions on Cursor / Copilot / Claude / agentic workflows and have rolled them out at scale.
Nice to have
Direct experience with Perfion, Algolia, or Hygraph.
Hands-on with Microsoft Fabric or a Power BI semantic model.
Background in industrial / sensors / instrumentation B2B (Sensing Tech is a niche).
Experience replacing or consolidating external SI vendors with an in-house team.
Prior insourcing program leadership.
