Job Description
Reichert Technologies, part of AMETEK, is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Material Operator to support our packaging, shipping, receiving, and stockroom operations in Depew, NY. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials and finished goods are accurately handled, tracked, and delivered across the business. The ideal candidate brings a strong work ethic, a focus on safety and quality, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while supporting overall operational efficiency.
Position Responsibilities:
The key duties for which the employee is accountable are as follows:
- Prepare pallets and various size cartons for secure and damage free shipment (wrap and strap).
- Ability to consolidate domestic & international shipments to minimize transportation and logistics costs
- Obtain pertinent information including product, weight, dimensions of cartons and pallets required to prepare docs.
- Prepare export documents (BOLs, Pack Lists, Comm Invoices, DG certifications, etc) as required by Customs and FDA
- Apply documentation and required labeling to cartons/pallets as required by DOT, IATA, Carriers, and Customers
- Follow proper instructions on sales orders to ensure that each shipment is prepared and shipped correctly
- Schedule pickup and delivery logistics with customers, processors, and carriers via telephone, fax, e-mail, etc.
- Update ship information on company information systems (MAX, MSO, SPS, Docuware, etc) in a timely manner
- Accurately process Customer Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) requests as needed.
- Work closely with Customer Satifaction Team to help maximize customer service.
- Process and/or trace shipments via use of computer terminal and carrier shipping systems
- Maintain good housekeeping of ship area and accurate record retention (filing) of all shipping documents
- Maintain inventory of all Shipping Supplies (forms, labels, ribbons, tags, etc.) as needed.
- Handle weights 25-60# from up to 40% of time
Position Requirements:
The education, experience, skills and training required of the employee for this position are as follows:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- High attention to details and excellent communication skills with internal and external contacts
- Ability to prioritize work and make decisions
- Positive Attititude and ability to stay focused and on task throughout the day.
- Computer Skills - ability to navigate internet functions, email, download/upload files, and update software systems
- Requires solid reading, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to calculate dimensions, volumes, and weights. Convert metric to English as required.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule including overtime and weekends
- Prior experience preparing Shipping and Export documents and knowledge of shipping Hazardous Goods a plus
