Job Description
This entry-level opportunity is a great fit for recent graduates who want to build experience in both the field and the office while working with an experienced team. You’ll have the chance to learn technical sampling and documentation skills, contribute to meaningful client projects, and develop a strong foundation in environmental and geologic fieldwork. Most workdays begin and end at our Cranberry Township office, with outdoor work year-round, travel to sites in a company vehicle, and occasional overtime, evening or weekend work, and overnight travel as needed.
What You’ll Do:
- Conduct water and soil sampling, testing activities, and other general field services independently and as part of a field team.
- Record clear, accurate field notes using established documentation procedures and both handwritten and software-based collection methods.
- Calibrate, maintain, and update a variety of screening and field equipment.
- Prepare project documentation such as client reports, landowner reports, summary tables, photo logs, and maps.
- Build professional working relationships with team members, subcontractors, clients, regulatory agencies, and property owners.
- Follow all GES and client safety protocols and promptly communicate any safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Support a range of field and office tasks as assigned by the field services manager, project manager, or supervisor.
- Assist with limited subcontractor oversight for field-related activities when needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Internship, academic fieldwork, or 0–1+ years of relevant experience is welcome.
- Ability to stay organized, manage time effectively, and produce high-quality work while continuing to learn and grow in the role.
- Commitment to following GES health, safety, security, and environmental standards in all activities.
- Willingness to complete initial and annual OSHA HAZWOPER training and work safely while wearing required PPE.
- Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, organizational, writing, and client service skills, with a willingness to ask questions and learn from feedback.
- Good driving record and comfort operating a company vehicle, including a four-wheel-drive truck.
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with Outlook, Teams, and other Microsoft Office tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with EQuIS, Survey123, ESRI Field Maps, or other field data collection software is beneficial.
