About the Role
In this position, you will lead the advancement of environmental and sustainability performance across regional operations, providing strategic guidance and hands‑on support to ensure compliance, continuous improvement, and responsible stewardship for the products and services Babcock provides. You will be responsible for the development and implementation and ongoing management of regional plans that drive decarbonisation, energy efficiency and climate adaptation. You will work closely with project teams to embed environmental considerations into planning and execution. Your work will also include conducting audits and assessments and embedding environmental and climate risk considerations into the business. You will prepare progress reports for senior leaders and support the operational functions to implement requirements. This role is central to supporting ensuring environmental best practice including (but not limited to) AASB S2, NGERS and corporate report compliance.
About you
You bring a strong foundation of experience, with at least five years in a comparable corporate environmental or sustainability report type role and a proven ability to guide, influence, and support operational teams. Your background includes contractor management, site assessment, environmental monitoring, data reporting, and a solid understanding of relevant environmental legislation. You hold tertiary qualifications in fields such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or Environmental Sustainability, and ideally maintain professional membership or Practitioner status within a recognised body such as the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand or Engineers Australia. You are a confident self starter who can operate in complex business environments, conducting audits, climate, carbon and energy assessments, and you communicate clearly and persuasively with stakeholders at all levels. A current driver’s licence is essential, and a White Card is desirable. Above all, you are committed to environmental stewardship, continuous improvement, and contributing to an organisation that values sustainability at every level.
