About The Unit:

6 West is an orthopedic unit that specializes in the care of patients with musculoskeletal injuries, joint replacements, and postoperative orthopedic procedures. We emphasize evidence‑based pain management, early mobility, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration to support safe recovery, functional restoration, and a return to the highest level of independence.

The unit consists of 44 private beds and features a unit‑specific gym located at the center, supporting both physical and occupational therapy interventions. Our patient population primarily includes adults aged 60 and older who are recovering from joint replacement procedures.

Our team is known for delivering high‑quality care within a supportive, collaborative environment that values teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.

The Assistant Nurse Manager position offers scheduling flexibility, with the option of working five 8‑hour shifts or four 10‑hour shifts per week.

Scope of work

Under the direction of the nurse manager or other nursing leader, the assistant nurse manager has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department.


 

Qualifications

  • Effective June 1, 2025, a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is Required.
  • Two+ years of clinical experience Required.
  • Participation in leadership activities (Unit, hospital or system Shared Governance meetings, Precepting, Charge nurse role) Preferred.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
