Overview:

Intapp builds software for the world's top law firms, private capital firms, and professional services companies — and AI is now central to how we do that. We recently launched Celeste, our agentic AI platform, and the MLX team owns the infrastructure that makes it possible: the AI gateway, model providers, observability, agent runtime, and the governance and evaluation layers around them — all running in a regulated, multi-tenant environment where client-data isolation is non-negotiable.

About the role:

We're looking for an engineering manager to lead the MLX engineering team. Your job is to make the team deliver: hold people accountable, keep the roadmap on track, drive commitments to done, and push work through when it stalls. You set a clear bar, follow up relentlessly, and aren't afraid to have hard conversations. You'll pair that with enough technical fluency to stay close to the work — understanding risk, challenging estimates, and knowing when a plan needs to change.

What you will do:

  • Delivery: Own the team's quarterly roadmap end to end — planning, breaking down epics, sequencing dependencies, and driving each commitment to completion on schedule. When something slips, you catch it early and fix it.

  • Accountability: Set clear expectations for each engineer, track them, and address underperformance directly and promptly. Run tight standups, retros, and reviews. No silent slippage.

  • Stakeholder management: This platform serves many product teams. You keep delivery visible, manage expectations, and represent the team's commitments and constraints honestly upward and outward.

  • People: 1:1s, feedback, growth, and retention — while holding a high bar. Build a team that ships reliably and knows what's expected of it.

  • Technical judgment: You're hands-on enough to jump into a POC, review code meaningfully, and help the team work through hard technical problems. You also know when to step back and let the team lead. Depth to challenge estimates, spot risk, and weigh reliability/latency/cost trade-offs — not just from experience, but from staying close to the work.

What you will need:

  • Experience managing a software or platform engineering team, or someone making that move for the first time with the right foundation behind them. Either way, you have a track record of driving delivery and holding a high bar.

  • A direct, accountability-driven management style — comfortable holding people to commitments and handling difficult conversations, not just facilitating.

  • Hands-on technical background — comfortable writing code, running POCs, and engaging at the implementation level when the team needs it.

  • Strong delivery mechanics: roadmap planning, dependency sequencing, unblocking, and keeping stakeholders informed.

  • Comfortable operating in a regulated, multi-tenant SaaS context where tenant isolation, security, and compliance are hard constraints.

Technical skills:

Enough hands-on grounding in the team's stack to lead it credibly and review its work:

  • AI/ML platform: LLM gateways (LiteLLM), observability/tracing (Langfuse), multi-provider model access (AWS Bedrock, Azure Foundry, Google Vertex AI), agent runtimes (Kagent), and local/open-weight model serving (Ollama; e.g. Gemma, Mistral, Llama).

  • Infrastructure: Kubernetes-native platforms with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm); GitOps/ArgoCD-style delivery.

  • Platform concerns: guardrails, per-tenant/per-user rate limiting and quotas, prompt versioning/governance, and evaluation frameworks (LLM-as-a-judge, agent evaluation).

  • Context: MLOps in a regulated, multi-tenant SaaS environment.
