Fluke Europe b.v. is looking for a Customs Coordinator who will be responsible, together with two other Customs Coordinators, for all operational Customs disciplines related to bonded warehousing, import and export of goods arriving at or dispatched from Fluke’s European Distribution Center in Eindhoven. Furthermore, the Customs Coordinator will offer support to the Fluke factories and laboratories and to the Customs manager in realizing strategic objectives like integrations and projects.

You will be part of the EMEA Customs team consisting of 3 experienced colleagues. The whole team, including the manager, sit together in one open and modern area (when in the office) so communication lines are short and informal. There are regular team meetings and 1:1’s to ensure everybody is heard and all topics are discussed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides advice on Customs matters in general and Customs licenses.
  • Tracking of all changes and developments in the field of Customs in the EMEA region
  • Escalation point for challenges with Customs across the EU.
  • Maintain communication with Customs authorities ensuring a positive relationship with Customs.
  • Supporting and handling Customs documentation, Customs declarations, Customs debts, and identify possible financial or compliance risks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous improvement of processes to increase efficiency and improve performance to the customer.
  • Management / administration of inhouse Customs system (Descartes-GCT), including troubleshooting and reconciliation of inventory between Fluke ERP system (Oracle) and Descartes-GCT.
  • Organizing in-house training, as and when necessary, be empowered to improve staff.
  • Ensures staff is trained, technically competent and well informed of changes in service requirements and regulations.
  • Submission of information for Customs (re)classification and Customs reclaims

 

Qualifications / skills and knowledge:

Customs Coordinator is responsible for ensuring customs formalities are completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with EU and local legislation. The role is best suited for individuals who have demonstrated excellent knowledge on customs processes, able to work independently but also as part of a team. We therefore expect candidates to meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor level education or similar experience 
  • Professional qualifications: Licensed Customs broker and preferably MCTA
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role in an international working environment
  • Familiar with processes; NCTS, BW, IPR, OPR, IMA, IMZ and GPA 
  • Experience in EU HS code classification and applying GRI’s
  • Strong skills in MS Excel, preferably also familiar with CMS Descartes-GCT and ERP Oracle
  • Familiar with AEO criteria and maintenance of AEO standards (internal audit program)
  • Good social skills to enable interdepartmental and intercompany communication
  • Professional proficiency in Dutch and English (minimum C1 level), both written and spoken
  • Accurate and structured worker
  • Critical thinker, yet capable of taking decisions
  • Courageous, feel comfortable proposing ideas and possible solutions
