Job Description

Primary Responsibilities: Utilize strategic account planning and CRM tools, such as Monday.com. Identify and develop new business opportunities and clients, expanding the company’s profile and market reach. Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, engineering consultants, subcontractors, and material suppliers. Propose and foster strategic partnerships with engineering firms, including potential competitors. Evaluate existing partnerships to identify future business opportunities. Manage key client relationships while working to establish new ones. Collaborate with sales, marketing, customer service, and client relationship management teams. Develop and strengthen internal and external relationships to support increased lead generation and market share. Monitor emerging markets and industry trends; recommend new services as needed. Contribute to the development of long-term objectives and strategic plans for the western Florida region. Research and identify new markets; travel to vendor sites, distribution centers, and other relevant locations. Identify and coordinate sponsorship opportunities, including nonprofit engagements. Conduct webinars and presentations to elevate brand and product visibility. Lead the preparation and submission of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from potential partners and clients. Represent Wharton-Smith as an ambassador by actively participating in local, state, and national water organizations, and attend relevant conferences and industry events. Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of business development and/or sales experience with a proven track record in developing long-term client relationships. Prior experience in the water and wastewater construction industry is preferred. Strong communication skills with the ability to regularly report to the Vice President of Business Development – Water, providing updates and receiving guidance. Capable of self-management and potentially leading future business development staff. Willingness to travel to local and regional job sites and offices throughout the Southeastern U.S.; overnight travel required for conferences and meetings.
