Job Description
This is a management position responsible to ensure vessels are crewed, operated and maintained (as permitted by vessel crew) in accordance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and customer expectations.
Key Duties:
May involve travel to multiple locations with extended stays away from the homeport.
Enforce Genesis Marine’s Safety Management System for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound fleet.
Ensure all vessel personnel comply with regulatory training requirements.
Assist in the development and adherence of the operational budgets.
Investigate vessel damage, product spills, and personal injuries.
Ensure all proper documentation is completed accurately.
Review orders that are dispatched for accuracy prior to transit and loading.
Review load plans as needed.
Supervise licensed and unlicensed personnel and crew management development.
Responsible for Navigational Standards.
Inspect vessels to ensure in good working condition.
Arranges for coordination of assist tugs, pilots and crew care as necessary.
Provide technical expertise for specialized jobs in the field.
Port Captains will be assigned no more than 10 vessels.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
High School or GED
Must live in or within 50 miles of New Orleans/Baton Rouge
Minimum 10 years’ experience in the maritime industry. Minimum 5 years as a Captain.
