What You’ll Do:
- Works under general direction and requires thorough knowledge of developmental and learning theory, vocational and/or academic processes and techniques, supervision theory and practice and curriculum design:
- Coordinates all academic and vocational programming
- Supervises, visits and observes classrooms and teachers and conducts
- In-service training of educational staff
- Interviews and recommends the hiring of prospective instructional staff
- Maintains the school plant (e.g., reports repair needs and recommends routine maintenance requirement to appropriate maintenance areas)
- Assists in writing grants and developing existing and future educational programs in concert with principal
- Directs staff in the implementation of curriculum, program goals and objectives
- Represents the education department in various institutional meetings
- Coordinates educational programming with other institutional departments.
- Monitors class scheduling and activities
- Assists with establishing policies and procedures for various educational programs and serves as an alternate General Education Development examiner, as needed
- Collects and organizes data for required periodic reports for federal, state and departmental organization
- Develops materials, supply and equipment requisitions and follows the procurement process to obtain them
- Attends meetings with principal regarding the overall management of the educational program supervised
- Performs other duties as assigned.

For all departments except Department of Rehabilitation & Correction, requires current appropriate type of Supervisory/Administrative Certificate as required & issued by the Ohio Department of Education; 12 mos. exp. in supervisory or administrative capacity in academic or vocational education program. For Department of Rehabilitation & Correction, requires current Elementary or Secondary Teacher Certificate or Pupil Service licensure (as approved by School Superintendent), issued by Ohio Department of Education; 12 mos. work exp. in adult correctional facility or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory or administrative capacity in academic or vocational education program.

Testing will also be performed for the presence of marijuana.
