Job Summary:
The Onboarding PM is a senior-level project leader responsible for managing complex, cross-functional onboarding programs from solution handoff through transition to sustaining operations. The role focuses on process leadership, orchestration, and execution governance rather than functional task ownership.
Principal Responsibilities:
Program Planning & Execution:
- Lead development of end-to-end onboarding project plans (timeline, milestones, deliverables)
- Define onboarding strategy and path to production
- Align resources and capacity with onboarding requirements
- Drive execution against plan and hold teams accountable to milestones
- Act as the central coordinator across Sales, Solutions, and Customer Focus Team (CFT)
- Ensure the right teams are engaged at the right time
- Facilitate onboarding cadence (kickoffs, phase gates, status reviews
- Align stakeholders on scope, timeline, risks, and expectations
- Own execution of the phase-gate onboarding framework
- Drive: Discovery & feasibility validation, Delivery readiness & go-live governance, Execution readiness, and transition planning
- Ensure clear decision points (Go/No-Go) and structured governance throughout lifecycle
- Identify and track risks, dependencies, and blockers
- Drive mitigation plans with CFT owners
- Escalate critical issues to leadership as needed
- Maintain visibility and transparency across stakeholders
- Coordinate First Article execution end-to-end: Engineering alignment, BOM readiness, Material procurement & logistics
- Ensure readiness for: Testing Operations handoff and Production scale
- Serve as the single point of coordination for onboarding statu
- Communicate: Status updates, Timeline changes, Risks and escalations
- Align customer, sales, and internal teams on expectations
- Track onboarding performance against: Timeline adherence and On-time delivery to production
- Support customer and internal KPIs through execution discipline
- Capture and drive Lessons Learned
- Improve onboarding speed, quality, and predictability
Job Level Specifications:
- Mastery knowledge of industry best practices and disciplines. Considered a subject matter expert within the organization and contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards.
- Develops solutions to highly complex and uniquely challenging situations. Assignments require extensive evaluation of alternatives and variables. Expected to make improvements to policies and procedures.
- Works independently toward long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated using independent judgment and discretion. May act as informal team lead and/or coach less experienced team members.
- Serves as consultant to management and/or internal/external spokesperson for the organization on major initiatives related to policies, plans and long-range objectives.
- Actions may impact the organization and its reputation. Effects of erroneous decisions may be long-lasting, influence the future course of the organization and/or require the expenditure of extensive additional resources.
Work Experience:
- Typically 8+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.
Education and Certification(s):
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
