The successful candidate is team-oriented, and understands the importance of collaboration and curiosity, focused on continuous improvement. They have experience crafting and managing campaigns, events, or working as a member of a multidisciplinary team with a shared objective.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of community engagement initiatives aligned with organizational priorities, sustainability goals, and strategic plans.
- Oversee the full volunteer lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, recognition, retention, and program evaluation.
- Build and strengthen relationships with volunteers, donors, community organizations, corporate partners, post-secondary institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Lead the planning and execution of community engagement events, campaigns, activations, and partnership initiatives.
- Support the implementation of communications and storytelling strategies that promote awareness, engagement, and impact while ensuring trauma-informed and strengths-based practices.
- Advance internal communication and engagement initiatives that strengthen collaboration, transparency, and alignment across the organization.
- Serve as a liaison between program teams and the Communications and Sustainability department, providing guidance, tools, and support for engagement activities.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on community engagement metrics, volunteer impact, participation trends, and funding-related outcomes.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and leadership to team members, volunteers, and stakeholders while fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, privacy requirements, risk management practices, and documentation standards.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree, diploma, certificate, or equivalent experience in communications, community engagement, nonprofit management, public relations, marketing, social sciences, or a related field
Certification
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle or reliable transportation
- Proof of vehicle insurance, registration and 3-year drivers abstract.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in communications, community engagement, volunteer management, community development, human services, special events, or a related field.
- Proven ability to build and sustain community partnerships, networks, and engagement opportunities with measurable outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of volunteer management practices and experience supporting community-driven initiatives, including those involving vulnerable and marginalized populations.
- Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- High level of digital literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office, database systems, and online platforms
- Knowledge of homelessness, poverty, mental health, addictions, and related community issues is considered an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive Salary: $54,609.00 to $73,972.00
